Need advice on loudspeakers Southern California
B&W Nautilus.... this is the speaker that I would buy if that kind of budget were mine. You need a lot of power to push though. I think you need 8 mono blocks of very good quality and power to drive them. If you're really serious though, look ...
I Have 100K for Speakers?
Give me 100k to spend on speakers alone, wow! I don't think the speaker I would chose is that much maybe 69k, but to power the Nautilus from B&W is an entirely differnt amount of money. so add the left-over money from the speaker to the amps a...
Helix or Alpha
Python Helix all the way, I say for hydra and cdp for sure. I'd put one on amp to and if budget is a concern put the diamond back on the pre. Just reccomendations not knowing your system. This is what I did at first now I have python helix on all ...
To biwire or not to biwire, that is the question??
Very good info, I don't own Vany's and not familiar with them. My speakers have 4 post but bi wire isn't reccomended, bi amping on the other hand is, other wise just use jumpers or upgrade jumpers. I did bi wire with seperate cables once, in my se...
Biamping B&W 802 with Musical Fidelity and Bryston
CJ is any thing but bright and I think you would be happy with any of thier amps 250 watts or more that you can afford, old or new models. Thier SS amps are very warm sounding in my experience. I like to put tube pre on the SS amps, beerdraft
To biwire or not to biwire, that is the question??
Speakers with crossovers optimized to recieve Isolated inputs will benefit from bi wire supposedly if not then it is not any better. I think its a fad, everyone seems to be doing it and they don't know why. I didn't get any better result when bi w...
Helix or Alpha
Helix Alpha, but like talon4 said, make sure the cord from outlet to hydra 8 is atleast as good as the cords to the equipment. I have python helix alpha's and love them.beerdraft

Agree with Aball, get out and listen. Lots of good integrateds in that 3k range. What else are you putting together? Do you already have other components? beerdraft
Biamping B&W 802 with Musical Fidelity and Bryston
I agree with most here, sell the amp and get one amp which will do both or two the same to bi amp. I like electroids reccomendation, MF2500, but maybe I'm biased, trying to sell my MF2500A, ha, but I did biamp with two amps diferent manufacturers,...
B&W 801 Series 80 Upgrading - thoughts? Input?
I just read an old stereo times review which the guy was reviewing the 802D and said he had review the original 801 years earlier and it was unflappable and one of the best speakers he'd heard when given lots of clean power. I don't think I would ...
Whats with the Watts ??
In my experience as long as you have plenty of reserve power, the amp will control the speaker even at low volumes. One of the best systems I've ever heard was Magnepans driven by the cj premier 8's and the older cj art pre which was thier flagshi...
Atlanta, Ga.
Are any of you going to plan to come to the event at Ga. home theater? I will be there and will have several people with me. My name is Neal, so look me up if you come or shoot me a email. I can't wait to hear some of the systems they will have se...
Whats with the Watts ??
Whats your budget? Your room is fairly big so I would look for 200 watts per channel atleast then depending on speaker maybe more. What type of source components do you have?beerdraft
Reccomendations for 802D's?
Yeah, I'm looking forward to the battle since they have some kind of caster which rolls. Hope it rolls on my carpet which is kindof short. It took me a while to get happy with my N804 and placement. then the wife didn't like it when I did get it r...
