Need to get information on a Levinson JC 2 preamp
change all the tantalum caps. replace with non-tantalum.
What is the cause of Mosfet Mist or Veiling?
No. Linearity of the output devices has NOTHING to do with an amp blowing fuses.
Rectifying bridge.
Sean, sounds like a digital RF amp ur talking about...maybe even a class E? Stil hard to see how 1% suply voltage change alters the output 18%... sounds like these are switching diodes, not rectifying power diodes.Anyhow you want soft recovery dio...
Electrostatic speaker cables...
Tekunda, You should change your info, if you are not a private user, and represent a manufacturer!
Electrostatic speaker cables...
Whoa...Tekunda, whoa! The velocity of propagation can be argued to be entirely irrelevant to a signal that is restricted to a maximum rise time LESS than a 20kHz. sine wave (at that!)...In fact it is virtually irrelevant to most RF applications. A...
Bi-amping, "What amps would you use"
There is no easy answer... the way that the signal is split also plays a role; is it an opamp xover, tubes or what? This is a critical component. It also matters what the system sounded like to begin with. IMHO, if there is a big advantage to bi-a...
Rectifying bridge.
Sean, dunno what a 6A4 is... a tube? But the turn on voltage of a diode in a bridge that is rectifying lots of volts is in essence meaningless. There are some applications where the forward bias voltage of a diode makes a difference, this isn't on...
What is the cause of Mosfet Mist or Veiling?
I agree, there is no such thing as Mosfet veiling. If anything this came about because of a great number of low cost Mosfet amps coming onto the market about 10-12 years ago. They were just not so great implementations and this is how that was man...
Rectifying bridge.
There is absoloutely no need to "match" diodes - they do not have gain like transistors. All you have to do is get 4 of the same part number. Of course, you have to wire them correctly too. :- )As far as Hexfred bridges, there may be some, just ch...
Electrostatic speaker cables...
I, of course am biased to my own... but Dunlavy's cables are very capacitive, that is how they achieve a nominal "8 ohm" characteristic impedance. The cables I use and make are both low inductance and low capacitance. I use ESLs and so do some of ...
CD Recordings..... What Do U Know?
The correction in a CD is NOT in the DAC. The correction is in the encoding of the CD data - IF it plays back it is lossless! This is Reed-Solomon encoding and the way it works is that the data is NOT serially encoded, it is interleaved with a typ...
Best transformer to mate with 2a3 based tube?
There is nothing wrong, and quite a bit right with a gapped C core tranny for a SE amp...Amorphous core transformers are made from the relatively new metal alloy known as Amorphous Steel, alternately known as "Metglass" because of the way it is ma...
What do you think about this idea for the FORUMS??
Am I missing something? Is there no direct way to the Systems forum other than through a member's system?? I can't seem to find a page with the "Systems" link on it...Anyhow, I posted my system...
40hz ratings/speaker response
Unsound, you should be able to click on my name and get to my info page, where I am listed as a manufacturer, and somewhere on this site get to my web address...but since you asked, and that makes it "legal" :- )http://www.bearlabs.com thanks,
40hz ratings/speaker response
Well, that's not quite a true statement since the K horns are a three way system... so that can't be held to be different than any other speaker system.K horns are capable of very good bass... but they are room dependent and they are a design that...
