overwhelmed by record rituals Unfortunately Ebm, my LP's don't fit in my CD player's drawer.
overwhelmed by record rituals In some cases, I play the LP before putting it on my VPI. I deep clean only "keepers"---going through the process for an LP I don't keep is a giant waste, both of time (as Moonglum suggests, my remaining days grow short!) and resources.
looking at upgrading my tonearm from a triplanar Ralph, your mention of the hardness of the bearings in the Triplanar brings to mind a couple of questions for me. Could you give us your design engineer's perspective on the following?- What is the significance of the hardness of a tonearm's beari...
overwhelmed by record rituals Stringreen---Buyers of used LP's especially need a machine IMO, but also anyone who desires to remove the mold-release coating on new LP's.
The Band: S/T and/or Music from the Big Pink As time goes on, I find myself liking MFBP more than the 2nd myself. Robertson's brown album songs seem a little too contrived and deliberated to me now, unlike when I was younger. But it was the ensemble playing and the singing I was listening fo...
Is the Townshend Rock 7 "the" giant killer? The Rock just requires one extra step in playing an LP---swinging the trough over the record, which is no big deal. The concern people have about the damping fluid in the trough spilling onto an LP is unwarranted---it's very thick and gooey, not t...
Why Listen To FM Radio For Music Anymore At Home? The question of course assumes everyone has a streaming device, whatever that is ;-). But I don't understand---is there something wrong with listening to music via a tuner?
Is the Townshend Rock 7 "the" giant killer? I have a Rock because it is THE table for the Decca/London cartridge. I feel a system should be assembled from the two ends towards the middle. I sometimes see a guy looking for a speaker to go with his amp, or a cartridge to go with his arm. Tran...
looking at upgrading my tonearm from a triplanar Tim Paravicini chose the Helius Omega for his EAR table. I'm guessing it's pretty good!
The Band: S/T and/or Music from the Big Pink I'm SO happy to see other Band lovers here on Audiogon! They are very special, as you all know. Music From Big Pink was so titled because that house (and it's famous basement) is where the guys got together to work on the music that ended up being...
overwhelmed by record rituals Audio Advisor has the Record Doctor V (a Nitty Gritty-style vacuum cleaner) on sale right now for $199.
Michael Fremer's record cleaning process.... If the world would not listen to composers/musicians/singers from countries that had done regrettable things, there wouldn't be much to listen to.
How an audio rack can enhance your amp/pre For anyone in N. California, there is a four-tier Star Sound stand available on AudiogoN for local pick-up. $550, I think it is. I'm in S. California or I'd snap it up myself.
Michael Fremer's record cleaning process.... The Record Doctor V (a Nitty Gritty-style machine) is on sale at Audio Advisor right now for $199. For anyone not yet owning a vacuum machine, that's a no-brainer.
Short speaker cable recommendation I emailed tajacobs and asked him if the 14g WE wire had the same tinned copper strands as the 16g, only more of them. His answer was yes. The 14g might be better for less sensitive speakers and/or longer runs, don't you think? |
