"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down".
One reason I cut Rock band drummers some slack---especially those at the level of Led Zeppelin---is that they are playing in very large venues, and the music has to reach all the way to the back seats. Playing "lightly" and with subtlety just does...
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down".
I know John Bonham only from my very limited exposure to his playing on Led Zeppelin albums. I heard their debut when it came out, and found it unintentionally and almost hysterically funny, like the bar band in the movie Ghost World: Blues Hammer...

IIRC, the Zerostat emits one charge when squeezed, the other when released. I don’t remember which is positive and which is negative. As for LP (and CD) organization, whatever makes finding any given LP/CD when you want to hear it easiest. For me...
Best way to clean glossy finish on speakers?
A 2nd on the recommendation of Novus by wolf_garcia. I've been using it on vintage drums---both natural wood and plastic-wrapped finishes---for a quarter century.

@curiousjim: You may already know this, but playing lead guitar on "Hang On Sloopy" is Rick Derringer. Every Garage Band in the U.S.A. was playing this song in 1965, including mine.

@mahgister: I love your line "Because doing so I will die with more in me than my limited tastes."   After watching my mother die a slow and painful death from brain cancer when I was 14-15 years old, I thought "So that’s it? She’s just gone?...

@ghdprentice: I started using the Zerostat when it first came on the market. It was somewhat effective, but required one to squeeze and release the trigger v...e...r...y s...l...o...w...l...y. A real pita to use. When the Nagaoka Kilavolt No.103 ...

I guess I missed it: What's a "CCA"?

@mijostyn: "Don’t bogart that joint, my friend, pass it over to me." But seriously, hope your recovery from pretty serious surgery is speedy. In the meantime, careful with that tonearm and stylus 😉 .

I agree @loomisjohnson, I don’t directly hear Ray Charles in Richard Manuel’s voice. That’s a good thing! He internalized it, deep down inside, and it came out as his own voice. As did Van Morrison. By the way, Van and Richard trade lines in The B...

@bigtwin: The Amazon packing you are seeing in Canada (a thin cardboard mailing sleeve inside a 4" thick carton filled with bubble wrap) is the same I have been seeing for quite some time here in the US. That's certainly preferable to the mailing...

Perhaps it’s just me @loomisjohnson, but Rod has always struck me as one of the thousands of guys who try too hard to sound "soulful" (black). I can understand wanting to have the gravitas of Big Joe Turner and/or Ray Charles, but a skinny little ...

Not yet @slaw, but I’ve pre-ordered it on LP. Comes out September 26th. Buddy has been very active since their last album together, but not Julie. I believe she wrote every song on the new album. @curiousjim: I'm probably even further from kid-do...
Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?
Just my opinion, but the difference between bass drivers and midrange/tweeter drivers FAR exceeds the difference between comparable amplifiers. Except of course for planar-magnetic’s, ESL’s, ribbons, etc. Different drivers made of different materi...
Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?
@knotscott makes a very important point: electronic crossovers provide only "textbook" filters. TF’s are 1st/2nd/3rd/or 4th order, which create slopes of 6/12/18/or 24dB an octave for each driver. The internal passive crossovers in almost all good...
