What is your most anal audio habit?
Sometimes I listen with my butt. Is that what you meant?Really, I constantly worry about having a blown speaker or a bad tube. I check my system way too much. I hear every crackle. Maybe I'm more obsessive-compulsive. What??? Who said that????
Integrated multi channel amp
Unless you cannot have a built in radio, you could try a receiver from Outlawaudio.com or BK.
Definitive Technology
I am using DefTech BP2000s with BK components and it sounds great for HT and decent for music. Your Meridian D/A may be more revealing you will probably benefit from higher quality speakers such as Alon or Vandersteen.
Best $300 Speaker Used
Definitive Technology has a line of good HT speakers. It would be easy for you to add a matching center speaker later.
Name 3 classic mini-monitors worth keeping- Why?
Alon Petites. Because they sound great!!!!Roy Allison (forgot model name!!!!). Also sound great and were a great price. I don't have a third, yet.
Inexpensive Tri-Wire Cables
That is a great suggestion, Marakanetz, but I am no DIY'er, and would prefer something that has been manucfactured specifically for Tri-wire use and has been factory or dealer terminated. I'm beginning to think that I am asking for too much by inc...
Need some advice on a good a/v receiver
Check out NAD, AMC, and outlawaudio.com .
Skipping vs. Drop Outs not "High School "
Thanks all for the great advice!!!Brad
Best used amp for around 500
Check out a used BK amp. It's a great line to start with and you can find them well under $500.
Most eye-opening upgrade and what you learned
Mine was when I installed a Tara Labs power cord on my system. This was a smaller aha!!!, but shocking nonetheless.
Looking for a gadget
Fostex makes such a device. I put one on my Dad's system. It cost less than $100. I found it at Mars Music in Atlanta. Check the Fostex website... Also, try an Audio Alchemy DTI (Digital Transmission Interface). You'll have to find that on the use...
Ancient Artifacts
Oops!!! I forgot to mention that the Numan CD is from 1985 and the Urgh! soundtrack is from 1981(???)
Best city between these two?
I live in Atlanta and I love it. What peolpe say about the traffic is mostly true, though. But, if you don't want to deal with the traffic, live and work in the city. The suburbs are where the traffic is hell. Brad
Furniture-grade cd storage
Bombay Furniture Company offers a cabinet called the Harlequin (??) that has doors with storage and inner shelves. I bought two adn they hold my 1000+ colection. They are only about $250 each, also. Brad Atlanta, GA
How BIG is yours?
About 2000 CDs. Also, a few crates of 1980's New Wave LPs that are either warped from heat or moldy. God, I miss 'em!!!! Brad, Atlanta
