Audio Research Ref 110 break in period
Nice amp! Thank you for the feedback.Did you upgrade from a Ref 110? If so, I would love to hear the improvements you have found over the Ref 110. So far with my Ref 110, I cannot imagine a better tube amplifier, but I know the huge increase in po...
Bryston BDP-1 Own one? What DAC are you using?
Just a follow up on my experience with the Bryston BDP-1 and BDA-1 combo... I have now run the pair for approximately 100 hours overall. They are very satisfying components. The sound is simply perfect in my opinion as far as digital sources go (at...
First Test for tube bias on ARC Ref 110?
70 total hours of running in so far, I just checked tube bias for the first time on my Ref 110 and three of the four sets were running just a little bit low. Should be at .65mv according to ARC manual and they were running around .61-63mv. I assum...
First Test for tube bias on ARC Ref 110?
I have to agree that auto bias is a very convenient feature, but I think it slightly hampers overall transparency. I have also owned the Primaluna Prologue Two and then upgraded to the Dialogue Two (both with KT-88's) and both are lovely amplifier...
Audio Research Ref 110 break in period
Anyone with first hand experience out there?Would love to hear what stages or changes I can expect from this amplifier once through the intial break as opposed to right out of the box.
Ref 110 using both 4 and 8 ohm taps?
Thank you sir! I'm Very glad I asked before I gave it a try.I am so very pleased with the ARC Ref 110. It is exactly the sound I was hoping for and so far it doesn't feel like my ARC LS17 is holding it back either, though I know it can be bettered...
Audio Research Ref 110 break in period
Both. Brand new unit from ARC with KT120's. Ordered it and within 4 business days it was built and delivered. My dealer approached me with it while auditioning a ARC VS115 and a Mac MC275. According to my dealer it was one of the last few they wer...
Tube amp decision - Thoughts
Just throwing my two cents in here...If you like the PrimaLuna sound, I would seriously consider the Dialogue Seven monoblocks provided you don't need balanced inputs. I have owned two of their integrateds (prologue two and dialogue two) and enjoy...
Power cable upgrade for ARC
Yes I think we misunderstood each other. Both of my ARC pieces have detachable AC cables. The LS17 uses a typical 15 amp IEC plug and the Ref 110 uses a 20 amp square plug type.Any thoughts or experience on which one a cable upgrade is more benefic...
First Test for tube bias on ARC Ref 110?
The amp is brand new and the tubes are the KT-120's included from ARC. Sounds like I should probably start checking them now. They have about 54 hours on them at this point. Thanks for the feedback.
ARC Ref 3 preamp - updates or concerns
Any idea on an average total life/hour expectancy on a tube preamp of this caliber? I would plan to fully retube it as soon as I receive it, but wondering what is realistic for total useful lifespan. My dealer was not certain of This units build d...
Best tube amp with B&W 805D?
Thank you for the feedback. I just ordered a new ARC Reference 110 with the updated KT120's to replace my Bryston 4B SST2. 130 watts of reference tube power should be plenty to drive the 805D's. Very anxious for it to arrive...
CDP Isolation?
I have used Vibrapods, Finite Element Cerapucs and Ceraballs under both a Rega Apollo and a Cambridge 840c.Each of them do something slightly different to the overall sound. Vibrapods softened the edges a bit, I wouldn't call it smearing, but seem...
Bryston BDP-1 Own one? What DAC are you using?
Thanks for the info Bjack70jr!Please let us know what other supporting equipment you are using the Bryston BDP-1 with as a point of reference. Which DAC? Amp/pre brand & model? Running balanced or single ended? I love my Maggie 1.7's but they ...
Bryston BDP-1 Own one? What DAC are you using?
A little more info: I purchased and used DBpoweramp software ($38 online) to rip all of my CD's accurately. A rather large and time consuming proposition yes, but once it is done, it is well worth the effort. I also made two other back up's of all...
