Nordost Valhalla 2 - Susceptible to Noise?
Doesn’t everyones system sound better at night?
MC901 monoblock tube matching Q
Looks like @crustycoot is correct. I called McIntosh again, this time got Chuck in technical support. He said neither the power tubes or signal tubes need to be matched in their amps or preamps. He did say it’s possible there may be a slight audib...
MC901 monoblock tube matching Q
Thanks for the replies, all. In addition to the MC901’s I’m also running a C1100 (tube preamp). One of my tubes is microphonic, which got me thinking it might be a good idea to keep a spare set around (especially considering the Russia situation)....
Help me solve another speaker hum thread :)
I spoke to my dealer today, they are gonna come take a look. I'll update the thread when they do. In the meantime if anyone has any great ideas, feel free to share :)
Help me solve another speaker hum thread :)
Ya I’m sure the tubes are correct. I tried swapping all the tubes out with the other amp but that did not effect anything. No wifi or AP’s. I do live about 0.2 miles from 3 AM radio towers and 1 FM radio tower... could that be causing issues? I wo...
Help me solve another speaker hum thread :)
@noromance to clarify, the speaker still hums when ONLY the MC901 is powered and connected to speaker via speaker cables. No other cables or devices are connected, powered, or even plugged into an outlet. Nothing else is on the circuit. I checked...
Did electrician set up my dedicated subpanel correctly?
Yea, the 2x 15 amp is to power the EP-2050ee (SPD+Noise filter). The extra 20 amp is an unused spare. The orange cable is the cryo. Confused what you mean it’s not dedicated, oldhvymec?
B&W 800 D4's, Room size, & general Q's
Ya I ended up going with Sonus Faber Aida’s.
McIntosh Tube vs SS w/ Sonus Faber Aida II
@ei001h Okay, you just convinced me to switch back to the Aida! I called my dealer this morning and made the change! :)I’ll give McIntosh a fair shake for now. May switch out later. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated.
Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run?
I see, interesting. Do you have another receptacle brand you can recommend?
Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run?
For the receptacles, I was planning on using 4x Furutech GTX-D NCF(R) AC Receptacles. Is there anything better?

Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run?
The power conditioner at the subpanel would work on all 4 lines, yes. I was planning to have the Niagara 7000 on it’s own dedicated line, with all electronics connected to it. And 2x MC901 monoblocks each on their own dedicated line. So, 3 of 4 de...
Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run?
Okay all, spoke with my electrician. We will be using #1 gauge from the main to a subpanel (I think 150amp subpanel?). And from the subpanel will be using 4x VH Audio 10-2 Cryogenically Treated Romex to outlets. The electrician also brought up the...

Does more voltage drop also hurt sound quality? Or does it just affect how much total power my system can draw at a given time?
