Hey K.....tt, Do you even have speakers?? OK, just to bring the averages down, I have had the same pair of speakers since 1984---Apogee Scintilla Ribbons. Still have them and enjoy them more than ever.
Will my Krell drive a 2 ohm load? I have a classic KSA-80B driving my Apogee Scintilla One Ohm speakers. That amp was made to do that, and does so superbly. That said, I have recently ordered a pair of Vandersteen Model 3 Subwoofers to get the bottom octave and relieve the top e...
$30K DAC in a $70K system - wise or ridiculous? I have done this--Source first. My Dac is a majority of my system. Its superb. But my Amp and speakers are 35 years old. I have no regrets--its fabulous: Roon>Unity Core>Meridian Ultra Dac>Krell KSA 80B>Apogee Scintilla One Ohms. ...
Anyone try a SUB THREE from Vandersteen yet? I have a pair of Sub 3's on order from JohnyR, as the recommendation of this forum. They should be here soon. I have not heard the Sub 2wq, so unable to compare. My main speakers are Apogee Scintilla One Ohm ribbons, so I will get a good indica...
Qobuz Special Offer Been happy with TIDAL and Masters for some time. Definitely the best sound for me. Higher rendering is usually better--the best is usually 352 classical. Jazz and country is usually pretty goodsounding if not MQA--but for me MQA is the real dea...
Audiodesk pro with only water I don't understand. This thing is 3 or 4 grand if I am googling on the right unit. And you don't want to spend $25 for the correct cleaning fluid? There are some forums with discussions of failures, and the cost to return to Germany to repair p...
Vandersteen 2Wq subwoofers with M5-HP crossovers - help needed gdnrbob --I think that's a good idea to start a new thread. I will do that after I get my "M3's" and tune them to my room and report the results.Gary
Vandersteen 2Wq subwoofers with M5-HP crossovers - help needed I was looking for a Subwoofer for my Apogee Scintilla One Ohm speakers that would do justice to these top ends. Based on the design, this forum and the recommendation of Johnny R, I have taken the plunge on a pair of Model 3 Subwoofers. Should h...
Audio Research D240 mkll vs Adcom GFA-555 How about a re-capped Krell about 20 years younger? from Eric Post. That's exactly what I did. Have a KSA-80B and had it gone thru by the factory--recapped etc. Using it to drive Apogee Scintillas at One Ohm. Been a year after recapping and so...
Unintended Consequences? Digital Streaming I don't use Qobuz, but do stream TIDAL. I notice a general trend towards better sound in the 192, 352 and 384 versions. There is a lot of good pop at 44, and 96, but not at the same level as 192/352/384. This is a generalization and there are e...
Do we really need anything greater than 24/96? Opinions? I pretty much agree with much of what has been said--except. I have a very high revealing system, Apogee Scintillas/Krell KSA80B and a Meridian Ultra Dac. I find in general, as the sample rate goes up, the sound does get better. The best mater...
MQA - Music Discussion I too use the apodizing filter along with the fast roll off in my Meridian Ultra Dac for most things. With MQA, it makes the appropriate connections. I find the apodizing filter to benefit standard CD very much.
MQA - Music Discussion I stream for most of my music. I have a Meridian Ultra Dac driving a Krell KSA-80B powering Apogee Scintilla Ribbons. It does a full decode. Its the best music experience I have had in 35 years. Its very much like the performer is in the room....
KRELL Mono Class A amp problem I recently had a diccharge noise in the left channel of my Krell KSA-80B driving Apogee Scintilla One Ohm Speakers. After I agonized, I called Krell and had them recap and repair it. The tech is the same one that has been their for 30 years, and...
Aurender MQA update worth it? I recently spent a lot more than this to go from a Non MQA dac/streamer to one that provided a full MQA decode. The difference to me was well worth it. My ears, my system, my room. It seems that this is typical. I compared with and without MQA... |
