Merlin Owner's... Thanks for your comments, Bobby. You're a classy guy. How does damping factor work? I get this sense that tubes and class A's have sloppy signal degradation so a properly made speaker will sense the point at which they should stop responding and d...
Merlin Owner's... Thanks for you rcomments, but I am going to have to sign off. My posts take hours to show up - it's just too difficult to discuss something in batch mode.
Merlin Owner's... Sorry Bobby but I think the best place to start is at the source. Bryston is well-known for neutrality, which is why I bought them. I do not want colouration. I want detail.
Merlin Owner's... I'm using DH Labs Theater Selects (rated at 25 pF per foot). I am trying to get the best sound I can afford, rather than spend, spend, spend chasing that last 0.1%, so these will have to be good enough. Not sure I would want to change my amp and p...
Merlin Owner's... Apologies for changing the subject but this thread seems to have the attention of Merlin owners. I am interested in the MX. Has anybody tried them with a Bryston SST series amp? I have a 3BSST.
Canadian tariffs, duties, etc? Good plan Thom_y. Do you actually have to go to the border to do this or can you have it delivered to a customs office in your city - for example Toronto or Vancouver? I too would like to save the UPS brokerage goudge.
Canadian tariffs, duties, etc? I live in Canada and have purchased stuff from US Audiogon members. I always ask for UPS shipping. Yes they charge a lot for brokerage fees, but as the buyer I am the payer and their handling is great - none of the packages I have received have ev...
Silly Question...does a transport have a "sound" ? If jitter is so important, why do we hardly ever see jitter measurements published for CD players the way we see things like THD, frequency response, etc.? Come to think of it, does anyone know what a good jitter spec would be?
Naim Cd Players Keep in mind that NAIM players do not have digital outs, so you won't have the option of using an outboard DAC.
high quality transports Yes great sound is a must. But what about the warranty? How much can you be expected to pay for a transport that offers only a 1 year warranty? Maybe the transport manufacturers need to establish a different warranty metric - say hours of play, I ...
Best transport for under $500 After_hrs - does the S7700 play CDRs ?Thanks
Sony S7700, S7000, or ??? best low cost transport? Can the S7700 play CDRs?
Review: Tjoeb 4000 CD Player If it takes so long to warm the player up, why would you not just leave it on all the time? Would the tubes burn out faster?
Reference 3a MM De Capo's vs Totem Sttaf vs LSi9's Lush - is that $1800 in Canuck bucks or Yankee dollahs?
Wadia think about expensive CD Players ? I wouldn't discount the importance of the CDP. A harsh CDP gets magnified many times over by the amp. Any speaker that masks that is going to lie about everyhting else too. |
