Beryllium Tweeters
Back on topic, I'm not actually looking to purchase anything right now, just adding ideas to the data base. For some reason I seem to really enjoy smaller speakers maybe because my listening rooms are on the smaller side. Those Penn Audio's look ni...
Integrated to go with KEF LS50
I've been searching for an integrated lately also. I was looking for an all in one package since I needed a dac, pre amp and amp. I missed a Wyred 4 Sound Mint for $850, a Peachtree Nova 125 for $680 and then pulled the trigger on a Nova Pre / 220...

Melbguy, interesting you mentioned those when you did. A pair came up for sale local but the reviews I pulled up said they were the best speaker, or the worst, depending on the recorded material and music...Runnin, good to see that you found a syn...
Best Dac under $600... New or used
Okay, the Bifrost is lookin good! A few questions. If I don't add the usb connection right now, that is something that can be added later, correct?I would definitely want to do the uber upgrade right away but since I am not using usb, and have no...
Best Dac under $600... New or used
I found a benchmark dac 1 local for $425 but I think its going to be too bright for my tastes...I purchased some older Monitor Audio 2.5 Golds yesterday and I think they might already be on the bright side. They're beautiful and in mint condition ...
Best Dac under $600... New or used
Thanks for the input fellas. I should have added that I only need an digital co-ax input, no usb.I also prefer a warm sound with substance as opposed to thin and cold. I do like the micro details and sparkle though.I've been looking at Schitt also...
Got Static?
I started a thread about this last year (maybe the year before, not sure). I too have crazy static problems here in Colorado. I couldn't figure out how to battle it. I tried everything. I'd get audible pops sometimes just walking across the room. ...
Totem Model 1
Well I dont only listen to techno. I listen to everything. Jazz, classical, female vocals, rock...I'm big on imaging, tight well defined bass, airy extended highs. I don't like a lean sound. I prefer sweet, musical and warm with some meat on the b...
dumb question, streaming music to a preamp?
Pure I20. It is an Ipod, Iphone dock and has an internal Dac thst is better than the iphone dac. If you wanted, you could run a digital signal out of it into an external dac also.My one and only source is a wadia 170i ipod dock with upgraded power...
You know you're an audiophile if--
You start wondering if telluric lines have an effect on your stereo.
Totem Model 1
I think I've narrowed it down to these Totem model 1's (not the Signature edition, unfortunately) and a pair of mid 1990's Monitor Audio Gold 2.5's... The Monitor Audio's are $400. The Totems are $600. I'm on a somewhat tight budget but if the Tot...
Do you always keep the Amplifier powered on
Yes, I do leave it turned on (tube amps, no). I read somewhere that turning your amp on and off is actually harder on the equipment than just leaving it on all the time. I'm sure there are other items around the house that we leave on all the time...
Speaker Stands Question
So I looked up the pvc stands... Maybe that isnt a horrible idea as long as you don't have me help you. You should see what the stands that I built looked like; absolutely horrific and I spent 3 days on them. Good luck!
Speaker Stands Question
There is a pair of osiris stands for sale in ny for $300...I think the Pvc route would look janky, and might be a waste of $ and time. Building them to be flat, equal and aesthetically pleasing would be difficult. I agree with what was said about ...
What is the answer?
Peanut Butter is the Answer. What was the question again?
