Can anybody be a speaker designer?
“Only one way to find out.  Try it and see.” ... only problem is “they” probably don’t even know which end of a screwdriver to use, let alone how to build anything except for crappy threads.
Can anybody be a speaker designer?
Nope. There’s quite a few idiots out there though that think “they” can, probably because “they” have never even tried. But “they” certainly think they’re the bees knees don’t they?
Unfair Competition: Orchard Audio Bosc Monoblocks vs. Pass Labs XA30.8
Yes, hard to quantify or describe the magic but once you have it don’t change a thing you can’t undo.

We spend too much time talking about tweeters
I think that its because tweeters handle what we thought was the majority of the range. First off, I thought I could hear to 20k because I’m still young.  Well I can barely hear to 15k; maybe I’m not so young anymore too thats a different conversa...

Frequency Response
@erik_squires , thought the same thing. I put a panel on the ceiling right above and forward of where my listening seat is, right where 350hz was loudest.  Didn’t do much.  Then I took 2 panels from the front wall and put them on the ground in fro...

ISO Pucks with Harbeth and Sklyan Stands
No experience with either harbeth or skylan but I always prefer to decouple the speakers from the stands.  Iso acoustics work well.A fun and informative test is to play some music fairly loud, with heavy bass or kick drums, and touch the speaker s...
Quad L12 vs Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand
I had the 21L2 back then as well.  Liked them quite a bit.  They have nice detail in the top end.  I thought they sounded slightly thin but I really liked them.  Beautiful finishes too.  I recommend them.
Lansche plasma tweeter replacement every 5000 hours.
Oops, meant to say 5000.  Transposed the $2000 repair bill.  Dyslexic?
My system is ... well, not ready
Hi Erik!  Congrats on the new place.  I’m sure you’ll get the room all dialed in.  You might want to talk to GIK about covering the entire front wall with panels.  It has always sucked the life out of the music when I did that.  I’ve found that it...
