Perhaps we should stick with midfi...
That's actually a good post, Rrog. I misspoke. Bose is sort of the John Tesh of speakers. Kind of an inside joke amongst the insiders. Yugo; Gallo; Red Lobster. They try so hard to be all things to all people that they become caricature-ized. The ...

Good comments all around. I agree with Paperw8 that impedances have to match; but "trust your ears" just means that at the end of the day you have to be happy with your system; and synergy is that intangible (I guess intangibles could be considere...
I'm going to start from scratch
Doesn't that 2325 have a built in phono section that's kind of nice? Are you too vested in digital to consider a phono setup? Vinyl is where the fun started for me.A member just put a very nice Kenwood deck up for $300.00 that would be a good matc...

You're selling that? But you just got it
I always work under the assumption that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission with the impossible-to-hide stuff; and I try to use "stealth" funds as much as possible to buy tubes, cabling and cartridges, which she never notices. You're rig...

Doesn't it bother you guys to see the full page ad EVERY TIME in Stereophile for the cover story component? They're like the Bush administration. They don't even TRY to cover up the B.S.Arthur Salvatore pointed out a while back that there's an unwr...

I like Rudy's (out of Dallas, I think; but the one I've been to is in Albuquerque); there's a place here in Phoenix (Gilbert really) called Joe's Real BBQ that I think most would consider top notch; but by far the best BBQ I've had was at a little...
Dali MKII 800: what amp / cables should I use?
Nice speakers! I heard them in a Cary room at one of the shows a couple years ago with the SLP 05, CAD 120S and 306 Pro. Really a nice sound in this room. Not "Hi-Fi" at all. Nothing stood out. I just wanted to listen. I don't recall the cabling s...

Alright, I've tried two more "joints" in the Phoenix area, and I have some good news. I've got one more that I've been told is good that I have to try, and I expect to hear of more, as I'm an exterminator here in town; and as a foodie, and in need...
New favorite VINYL Album?
I picked up "Monsters of Folk" a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say I like it a lot. I also bought Jack Johnson's newest, and it is better crafted to vinyl than the rest of his offerings, and I like them all quite a bit.

Sounds good; but I'll take the Agujas or the quail at Pappasitas if I'm stuck in Houston for my last meal...

Don't get us started on Mexican in L.A...I used to drool for Carrillo's, a carniceria in San Fernando. You would go in for a burrito and hear the women in the back clapping their hands together making the masa tortillas by hand. The flour tortilla...

...and Carney's burger is like an Original Tommy's burger without the Ptomaine poisoning (which definitely adds flavor...).There used to be a place on Santa Monica and Myra called Jay's A-Dog that made the best Tommy's rip-off burger in town.IMHO ...
