Hi Peter, let’s see...>>> How - for example - they could engage such a fine pianist as Wilhelm Kempff (for a complete Beethoven sonata cycle!) and then not bother to give him decent sound, I simply cannot understand <<<Actually me...
Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?
Holy momma,I declare, that's gotta give Jonathan some'm to say, and then some! He is quoting +/- 0.3 mm from 9.52 mid-point (the IEC, hm... Gold-Standard as we have it right now) - and now this here situation. 10.5 mm! You can only make this yet m...

Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?
Hi Jonathan, still at it I see. Me, I'm just done with breakfast :-)Your points made about the Graham are very good! Pity I don't have one --- the thread is after all about the SME-V which is what I use. But still a very good point, particularly on...
"Frightening" or "Relaxing" sound quality?
Hi,I think we are getting something here, now we are talking about "spooky", very good. Now spooky can be 'nice' spooky, or 'frightening' spooky, right? You of course one can now argue, that it's in the mind of the listener, and who can disagree.I ...
Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?
Jonathan :-)you can cheer me up, thank you for your kind words. If I talked about a difference, it is a small difference. The cart would not work properly if it was major --- but lo and behold MOST easily noticed when you swap a cart in an SME arm ...
The correct internal-inductance of Windfeld cart.?
Blow my mind!1) good to know, we have only sincere value seekers going on in thread. I'm genuinely relieved.2) I must be getting confused between the different participants? If that is so, my sincere apology.3) Why didn’t Dave step up to the plate...
The correct internal-inductance of Windfeld cart.?
Hi Dave,I just got that idea to check on your threads. Now look here: "Thoughts on cartridge loading with a SUT" 11-22-08 !!You appear to be quoting a couple of other originators quite liberally in your essay, hm. OK, you are not selling a book he...

:-) Dertonarm,Mine is not long, but white for sure, and SME's founder is dead by now. It must have been at least their intention to move on with all this fiddly-dilly alignment stuff. I feel obliged to give them credit for it, even one can't agree...
Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?
Hello Jarr, sorry, 3/8" = 9.52 mm must've been a typo! Thank you for that correction. That point was actually raised by some Lyra owner(older Lyra type I guess) quoting 8mm for screw hole to stylus distance. I guess he had measured it, but only he k...
Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?

The correct internal-inductance of Windfeld cart.?
Any one around this place that understands what is a generator, or how it works? Help!Switch your car light on and the dashboard lights dim?No need for a regulator either...A cart going into a lower than usual impedance will output more current, N...
The correct internal-inductance of Windfeld cart.?
Hi Dave, let try this once more...>>>If you do then you also have to agree that it is the load that determines the current delivered by the cartridge and not whether there is a SUT involved. <<<Now who can NOT agree, that the load...
Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?
Hi Giggsy, what you say relates to a Lyra Dorian I used, DEFINATLY on the shorter side. Then I had it re-tipped (J. Allaerts) and it was much closer to that 9.2 - 9.5 mm measure.I can see, that with a difference of ~ 1 - 1.5 mm it could sound better...
Will SME-V, etc benefit with non-stock alignment?
Mike, following another info:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?eanlg&1234544166It mentions 9.2 - 9.5 for 'most carts, but it aught to be measured to make quite certain of the individual case.NOTE: This DOES not take care of the actually a...
