Which cleaning solution do you use in you RCM?
I second Topoxforddoc's solution. I use very similar 'DIY juice' also. It works as well as any of the multitude of 'magic potions'. I did try a number of them, not that they are bad --- but no better either, then my own mixed stuff. Long live mark...
Is extremely accurate "VTA" adjustment necessary?
Will_herrera,>>> Can I get an "amen brother"? <<<Sir, yes Sir! And all say AMEN! :-)This whole REGA white paper rational could actually be seen just the other way round. BECAUSE of what Roy thinks about the subject the REGA tts a...

Anyone that starts to feel really confused by now please put their hands up. I'm first!
why is a 13" tonearm design really superior?
We next aught to work on a 24'long, what say you? Like a low resonace pool-cleaner tube? Will like major minimise the tangent error, no? Got to have some fantasie else things are not moving foreward here, I say.

Looks like trophy audio too me, so I'd stay with the Raven AC3 - happy listening to all MY Lps and get some more. But, that may just be a bit boring?Want to drive "Porsche", go get one and get it out of your system while you can.
Need to be educated re: MC Step-up transformers
Brent, are still talking SUT? Please note that the values you had discussed related to non-SUT, straight into your phono-pre gain stage, the way I understand it, and the values look to me. I do not know your specific cart but ~ 500ohm could be fine...
Suggested entry path into vinyl...
Hi,let me second Clio09 and of course MM Raul :-)I'm currently listening to an MM in my system (Shure V15 III xMR) and it makes me and my phono-pre a lot happier then any MC managed to date. Some would say it's due to the phono-pre seeing a more 'w...
Need to be educated re: MC Step-up transformers
Hi Al,you quote Gundam91: "The first rule of thumb is that most (some exceptions exist) MC cartridges like to see a load impedance of 3X to 6X their output impedance value."This is entirely dependant on the cart DCR in the first place. Note: The l...
Dynavector XV1-S and step-up
Lewm,I suggest that Shindo and EAR might be different - B U T it is a known that there are better trannies than used simply for cost, inside some EARs. This MIGHT just be true to some degree with Shindo? It could be settled by trying another extern...
MC LOADING & STEP UP DEVICE
Hi Al,I think you do make the better teacher then I feel myself, as you have it so well explained. Let's see if this gets Dfelkai sufficient clarity to proceed. Thanks again, and let's see what comes up next.
Dynavector XV1-S and step-up
Hi Lewm,y.s.:>>I dislike comparative testing of SUTs that we see in published articles, where a guy interposes several different SUTs between the cartridge and preamp, without regard for any special measures that might optimize frequency res...

Sorry for the silly typo!!!!!It must read of course: 47k ohm / 31.6 * 31.6 = 47 ohm, for a 30dB trannie
High Mass Tonearms and Cartridge Matching

MC LOADING & STEP UP DEVICE
Al, thank you for clarifying this:>> In Axel's example, the 18K that he assumed was in parallel with the 47K preamp impedance represented an external 18K resistor, not the transformer's secondary coil impedance.<<<The example aught ...
