Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
I would also like to qualify some of the responses above, where others are stating "multi-channel as superior". My experience is that most cannot even setup a 2 channel system for best sound, let alone 5 or more ch! Let's just assume two equal qua...
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
I am certain that you can get better sound quality with a carefully assembled 2 ch system. I know I have.I still, however, get more pleasure doing a bit lesser quality with a carefully setup AV multi-ch system. This way, everyone gets to enjoy alo...
Opinions on a good HT/Music AVR
Nonsense. I would try the Harmon Kardon AVR 354. Supprisingly good sounding, and can be had for $250 if you look around. Has all latest, minus 3d (who cares) capable. As for the Nad? ("I have owned a couple of NAD's the I have many problems with, t...
need to find subs with lots of slam for HT
Just throw in an Outlaw ICBM crossover, set at 40hz cross, and drive the bigger sub(s) under 40hz, and the smaller 8 to 10" subs at 40-80hz, leaving your pre/pro or receiver to cross over at 80hz on up to the speakers! Of course, you still have WAY...
HT without a dedicated preamp or processor?
After all these years doing AV, as a hobbiest and professional, believe me. If I could forgo as many of the pieces of the elctronics chain for purity sake, I would! I would go straight from my blu ray player directly to the amps, and be done with ...
ATI 2005 or Emotiva EPA-5
The ATI will have better current, and afford a cutting edge sound for your surround needs. The Emotiva will mate better with speakers that lead towards and "analytical" or even brighter sounding speaker match. I found a ATI 1505 for $350 in pristi...
emo umc1 and pcm...
i thought they fixed all these bugs. no?
Totem "Fire" Element series monitors
Oops. I see they are rather pricey at $6k range for the pair of monitors. These had better be DARN good at that kind of money!Perhaps I should look for a used pair of Extremas, or maybe some Wilson Cubs or somethin...now that I think about it more...
Is 11' distance from projector screen too close?
It will fit, at very least, with any LCD projector with 2.1:1 throw ratio. I had an old Optoma HD65, and that throw ratio fit in a room that was 12.5" deep, at the back wall, and fit on a 100" screen. You should be ok on 90" with most projector op...
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
I have had some pretty expensive two channel systems in my past. And I definitely appreciate the refinement of what I can get from a 2 channel rig, readily. Truely, there certainly is a lot of gear out there, which can make the most of what is ava...
$6 Million Dollar Man?
My first problem in that room - besides all that equipment strewen all around the room - is equipment being in the same room with the sound system. No matter what, you're still getting feedback into the system. The floor reflection? Yeah, it's not...
$6 Million Dollar Man?
Actually, you couldn't get an endless slew of "A list" performers in exchange for that money! I think some of the top people get like $100k per hour, if they do such part time gigs at all. At that rate, you'd blow through the $6 mil in a few weeks...
$6 Million Dollar Man?
Yeah, there ya go. I like multiple room setups, like Mapman suggested previously above. One custom theater setup for at least 12 people. But, if not, then he could easily get the same overall perceived immage on a smaller screen setup for 4 people...
$6 Million Dollar Man?
Well it's definitely a continuation of a young man's dream of building the ultimate audio system, somewhere down the line. He got the money, and said "I'm doin' it!". Good for him. Hope it's everything he imagined it would be, and more...including...
