Amp and Processor
A comment on the Focal Sopra.  The Focal speakers are very fast responding and require a really good full sounding amp (which it looks like you have).  Focal can easily go bright and harsh in certain configurations.  What cabling are you using (po...
Amp and Processor
I've kind of stopped responding to millercarbon because EVERY SINGLE POST here that asks about an HT processor and receiver basically gets trashed by millercarbon in the same way.
Neotech NC-P313 vs. Furutech FI-28 Plugs
which Sonarquest plugs do you have?  They come in all four of the following configurations:- Unplated copper- Gold plated- Rhodium plated- Silver plated
Neotech NC-P313 vs. Furutech FI-28 Plugs
I think the Neotech gold plugs would be ever so slightly on the warm side of neutral.  It really depends what "neutral" is to you.  They have more attack and resolution than Furutech gold, but not as much as Furutech rhodium.
Neotech NC-P313 vs. Furutech FI-28 Plugs
sorry, I do not have direct experience with Neotech rhodium plugs.
Looking for some more detail oriented / brighter sounding power cords.
Probably Nordost since it's all silver-plated wiring.  Maybe the Wireworld Silver Electra.Like Erik said, all cords influence sound (power cords, interconnect, speaker cable).
Neotech NC-P313 vs. Furutech FI-28 Plugs
Furutech hardly makes any silver plated models, but i do see the FI-48 Male comes in silver. For "neutral" I would probably say Rhodium.  The Furutech gold-plated is colored in the sense that it softens the highs and also slows the bass.  Silver is...
Best 6x9 Speakers
@bcathy19 - i see you already have a "best 6x9 of 2019" article on your website.  You forgot about Focal.
Buy Decision Audioquest vs. Audience
@dustsailor - it is more likely that you are hearing the gold-plated terminations.  Most people don't realize that the terminations are just as important as the wire.  I'm running Rocket 44's with Furutech rhodium spades and I do not have any prob...
Dedicated Power Line Project
I will say that it is actually difficult (but not impossible) to terminate 10awg romex on an outlet. I have to have the Romex come directly into the outlet box from behind and then pre-bend the hot/neutral/ground leads exactly so that the wire ent...
Dedicated Power Line Project
I'm probably late in the game on this discussion.  Agreed that direct line is better than daisy-chain through a bunch of low end crappy outlets.  Another thing to remember is that anything larger than 10awg is going to be stranded wire.  In my exp...
Another s/pdif digital cable thread
Huh, I had the complete opposite result when using BNC-to-RCA adapters.  On the exact same cable, I had much better high frequency resolution and results with using BNC connectors on the end of the cable and them BNC-to-RCA adapters.  When using t...
DIY Acoustic Panels
I have had a sealed back panel actually resonate.  What happens is the back panel is in contact with the fiberglass/insulation and will resonate with the fiberglass.  I had to cut out a large section of that sealed back to resolve the problem.
Neotech NC-P313 vs. Furutech FI-28 Plugs
a note on Wattgate.  These are decent bargain plugs, but they are made from brass which imparts a harsher tone.  I found that Wattgate brass tends to "push too hard" on the voltage and the sound becomes too forward and bright and harsh (in a way)....
Neotech NC-P313 vs. Furutech FI-28 Plugs
It’s hard to say if the Neotech/Furutech offerings are going to be better than the Sonarquest. I haven’t use Sonarquest, but in all my testing it really comes down to the metal material used and the plating. Both Neotech and Furutech have excellen...
