For those who miss Geoff Yes a good smacking is in order. Agree with others in that he looks exactly as expected.
HAVE CABLES EVER TAKEN YOUR SYSTEM FROM SOUNDING JUST OK TO SOUNDING GREAT? Experiences ? Nothing dramatic just improvement. Of course I have never gone from zip cord to a really high end cable. Modest improvements over time.
As good or better than Magnepan 3.7i Well I just put my newly rebuilt Quad 63s away and am going to sell. So I am done with any dipole design and the difficulties that arise with proper placement. Now dynamic open baffle are a bit easier to place, but still am not a huge fan.
Shameless Poll: Pearl vs Ohm vs Zu Dont know the Pearls, but would pass on the remaining choices.
BEST SPEAKER THAT COMES TO LIFE AT LOW LISTENING LEVELS Some of you are such tools. As if a member doesnt have the right to take a few days/weeks off from a post. Perhaps he is on vacation or unable to respond. Horns with tubes have had the best low level performance I have heard. And I dont like horns.
Magico - Wide vs. Narrow I am trying to integrate my newly rebuilt Quad 63s in my room and am having a tough go of it. Alot of sacrifices that go along with the magic.
Which sounds better 2 way or 3 way speaker design I really like the designs with no midrange crossover but they are somewhat output limited. Again much easier to make a good 2 way which should have better time and phase characteristics. A dedicated midrange driver is both a blessing and a curse d...
Which sounds better 2 way or 3 way speaker design 3 way designs are more difficult to get right. Also 3 ways are more expensive, so be suspect of a 2 and 3 way design of similar price.
Magico - Wide vs. Narrow But do we really want an increase in our sense of space? Is this illusion correct or an aberration?
What contributes most to a change in how an amplifier sounds? The speakers with which they are paired.
Magico - Wide vs. Narrow In my experience most wide baffle speakers do have somewhat of a distinct sound. This may also be due to the fact that many wide baffle manufacturers also subscribe to old fashioned design ideas like lossy cabinets, flat baffle fronts, etc.
Entry Level Tube Integrated Amps Perhaps a bit pricey but I like the Rogers stuff made in the U.S.
Magico - Wide vs. Narrow Well I just looked at the M Series on their site and these are certainly not traditional wide baffle speakers. To my eyes it looks like a superb cabinet design that is not wife baffle.
The Legendary ? Infinity IRS V Very good for the time, but would not stand up to the state of the art at present. The speaker is defined, both pro and con, by the drivers. Very definitively so to my ears.
And a Ho! Ho! Ho! To All! Merry Christmas! |
