Review: Cardas Reference Series Golden & Neutral Ref, Golden Pres. Interconnect Hey, Zear, after having the Golden Presence for 10 months, I'll have to say that over time the sound improved even further. It opened up more, and became very liquid and seamless., I had several audio friends bring over Nordost, Tara, Audioquest, ...
What Integrated Amps have the sonics of Separates? Thanks for responses. Now some comments on recommendations given. Many of these integrated units have much, much smaller power supplies and no. of output devices. I know the BAT 300 is a perfect example. Looking at its internal layout, it is not ve...
What Integrated Amps have the sonics of Separates? Guidocorona, I'm looking for 150 w. or more. I have so far preferred preamps with tubes, finding transistor preamps flatter and having less body and air. No tube amps for me. I listen to a variety of music inc. jazz, vocals, classical and like to ...
Cardas Golden Presence - anyone familiar? I don't know about the Golden Presence speaker cable, but I recently bought the Presence IC, and it was much better than the Neutral Ref, and sounded pretty similar to the Gold Ref. Hey, Hifichic guy, I also thought the Presence sounded more open ...
Review: Cardas Reference Series Golden & Neutral Ref, Golden Pres. Interconnect I went ahead and bought the Golden presence. They sound amazing in my system and smoke my old cables away and this is with probably 20 hours on them only. Thanks for your review and happy listening.
Review: Cardas Reference Series Golden & Neutral Ref, Golden Pres. Interconnect After reading your review I borrowed the Golden R and Golden Presence from my dealer. I agree with you that the Presence has much of the sound of the Golden R. I think I'll save myself the money and go with the Presence. It really sounds awesome.
Review: Dali Helicon 800 Speaker Nice review, Zear. Your system sounds like it is carefully put together and must sound excellent. You mentioned that you had not heard the Mark 2 version. I mentioned before that I have a friend with Helicon 800 like you. Like most audiophiles, he ...
Review: Dali Helicon 800 Speaker My friend and I listened to a must hear recording yesterday on his Helicon 800. The CD is "Wood" by bass player Brian Bromberg. The bass is so powerful and demanding, you best have speakers and electronics that can handle it. The Helicons amazed me...
Review: Dali Helicon 800 Speaker Zear, I searched and found where you had posted about your Helicons when you first got them. Your review is quite consistent with what you said before. My friend who bought the 800s is pleased as pie. Whenever I stop over for a listening session, I...
Parasound JC-1 vs Pass Labs 250.5 I was in the process of buying a pair of Parasounds a year ago. After I mailed my check, the owner contacted me to say that one amp blew up when he turned it on one day. He sent my check back, but I kept in correspondence with him. After what I le...
Review: Straight Wire Crescendo Interconnect I found a picture of it. You're not kidding about how thick it is. I've been wondering why some of the most expensive cable is made this way. Apparently the use of thick dielectrics and space between conductor groups achieves something positive so...
Dali Helicon 800. What components match with it? It's interesting that they are 90 db efficient, yet seem to thrive on high power. Cary 120 sounds like 120 w. per channel which is not exactly high power, and I heard they were demonstrating the Helicon 400. Or, were they demonstrating several mod...
BAT Preamps, why such polarized opposite opinions? Audphile 1 said, "you doubt the group of people who offered their opinion that contradicted with what you READ in the forums." Well, so what? There are others here who don't agree with your group.Elberoth1 has a very expensive and sophisticated sy...
BAT Preamps, why such polarized opposite opinions? Thick, slow, veiled -- YUCH!Your description of BAT's sound mirrors what a number of others think as well. With no disrespect intended, I have to question those posters who find none of this to be the case. I cannot believe that so many find BAT to...
BAT Preamps, why such polarized opposite opinions? Glai, how can the treble be "closed in" but "really open up" with the right power cord? If the treble is indeed closed in or hooded or airless or dull as some say, I don't think any power cord is going to eliminate it. |
