Transport opinions Auxinput, Thanks for for your thoughtful reply. You pretty much hit the nail on the head on all counts. Thank you for saving me the time with the pioneer. The 5400, I believe will be the best transport I have to work with. It is the best built,...
Transport opinions Connected the DIP 24/96 inline between the 5400es and dac. ITS DEFINITELY STAYING. That little box is wonderful. Upon installation, I only had one better cables silver serpent and one monster datalink 100. It sounded excellet without warm rich, ...
Quality of outlet not directly powering equipment important? Thanks everyone for your responses. I definitely want to at some point, add a dedicated line, with quality 10 gauge. For now, I'm stuck with the houses flimsy 14 gauge. It appears to,be 14 gauge anyway. System sounds great , albeit.
Digital cable length- SPDIF vs AES/EBU- 1.5 meter for either? I too have noticed this phenomenon, when I lived in my apartment. The differences were NOT subtle. All the electronics, including my alarm system and wifi were all on the same branch. In my new home, I don't have a dedicated line perse, but noth...
Transport opinions Reubent, I'm thinking the same in my mind. I have a practically new CD-5000, which uses a Philips transport, and while not the pro version transport that's in the ARC spinners, it might just be the next best thing. Thee Marantz will be first on ...
Quality of outlet not directly powering equipment important? Gs5556,If I unplug outlet one and just have the wires not connected to anything, yet live, the other outlets do not power up. Bcowen, I did not do a before and after comparison. I automatically just did it once I saw the garbage in the wall, and...
How old is too old for a Dac? Not to hijack, but I too am interested in upgrading my source, but honestly don't know where to start. I have a Sony 5400es that has served me very well, but I don't know what I would have to spend on the used market on a dac to better it. I hav...
SR BLACK UEF Outlet break-in and why you shouldntdo multiple tweaks at once. An update-a twist in the story- The day I installed the black outlet, we had guests, and I had to inflate a full size air mattress and use the music room for the guests. Because I am lazy, I left it there for a while, and just now cleared it from...
SR BLACK UEF Outlet break-in and why you shouldntdo multiple tweaks at once. So, I pulled the migs out and put the tenderfeet back. The migs have a better controlled bass, but the highs, at least at the moment, don’t seem as sweet. The outlet has 100 hours, so it should start to open up soon. The teslaplex se still wins at...
SR BLACK UEF Outlet break-in and why you shouldntdo multiple tweaks at once. Came home tonight, and heard some promise, but definitely still cooking. I can tell, even though the outlet hasn't cooked yet, that the black outlet is smoother than the teslaplex se, and doesn't have the sizzle factor. Still waiting for the sou...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. So many considerations just to add a subwoofer without comprimising my signal for the main amp!!! Sheesh! almarg, thanks for your insights. Another idea- what if I used balanced to SE converters and used the other currently unused balanced outp...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. Fundsgon, with the SMS-1, I just st wedge another set of speaker cables at the amp terminals? You sure there are no ill effects from doing that?
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. Erik, I use two rca's from m the AC to the crossover, and two balanced cables to main power amp. No splitters used. The signal is split internally in the preamp to all the various outputs.
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. The paradigm unit is a stand alone crossover, not a powered sub. The paradigm is fed from via rca from the preamp, which sends a line signal to the 555se, which is used as the amplifier for my passive sub. I do not have speaker input provisions, ...
Don't think my preamp likes feeding signal to two seperate places. Almarg and atmosphere, you have it correct. I believe the paradigm crossover unit is 20k, SE, as per my referenced thread. (That user had the exact same crossover, but with a ref 3. It seems I would need to have a balanced crossover, as the ARC d... |
