The best Subwoofer
If you don't mind providing your own amp and crossover, Dunlavy has some not inexpensive Tower Subs that use the same drivers (and cabinets)as the SC-IVa, SC-V and SC-VI with four (4) 10 inch, 12inch or 15 inch drivers per cabinet (depending on mo...
dcs sound
Pls1..If I remember correctly, you use a SigTech room correction device. If that is you and you get an upsampler, make sure you modify the SigTech filters to output 24 bit words instead of the dithered 20 bits.
Great Percussion Recordings
Find a copy of the Sheffield Drum Record (the LP and not the CD). Recorded Direct to DiskThere are a couple of drum solos that, on the right system, will knock your socks off...,.very real.
John Dunlavy On "Cable Nonsense"
Because Dunlavy makes another speaker wire does NOT change his position. It means he has another design with different properties that was designed to insure that "loudspeaker cables possess all the electrical properties required to ensure that no...
Theta reliability?
I have owned a lot of Theta products over the last 8 years (Data II, Data III, Gen II, III, Va and Casablanca) and have had only one problem --with the Data II- that required it to go back to the factory. It seems as though the more software they ...

Room correction in high-end system???
I am saying several things: (1) the digitized LP sound better than the CD of the same recording (ignoring the room correction), but(2) even if the digitized LP is not a good as the non-digitized LP, the room correction advantages far outweigh any ...

Room correction in high-end system???
Metaphysics--The Tact puts out 24-44/48/96 (whatever it is fed -- not doing upsampling)and the SigTech puts out 24-44/48. Since virtually zip is offered on 24/96 input (especially if SACD wins), the 96 sampling rate is not that critical at the mom...
Room correction in high-end system???
I have SigTechs and a Tact and I listen to analog and CD. I bought an external A to D going to the SigTech or Tact for converting my analog. I also upsample to 192 coming out of the SigTech (dCS) and use the dCS D to A (Purcell and Delius). While ...
Bryston 6B availability?
Check out the Bryston website -- no mention in their product list of a 6B !!
HT vs. stereo pre-amps again
Actually, ther is an answer..the Theta CasaNova or Casablanca. If you get the version with digital out, you also get an external black box that is used for volume control. Your output (e.g. from your DAC) can be directly connected to the "black bo...
New formats, same old story?
Get 4 identical speakers, full range. Add a processor that supports circle surround (un-encoded) or similar (both Theta and Meridian have music surround processors that apply), turn off the center channel and the sub and you now have a sound syste...

If you use the velcro strips provided, make sure you staple the piece on the ceiling...the glue will eventually not hold...
