Thiel Owners
@unsound, I am not guided by specs since I am not educated enough to understand all of the parameters, but perhaps others can. Like perhaps most of us, my “tools” are my ears and the Kinki Studio (marketing) or not do sound amazing, very transpare...

@tomthiel the Kinki Studio power amplifier is indeed different animal, very powerful and transparent with a superior damping factor. A technical description (taken from the excellent SoundNews review (*) can shed some light about it: “The EX-M...

@tomthiel you are probably right… although the Copland, despite not doubling the power at half the impedance, it is a amplifier designed for tough loads. From the Hifi-News review: …the CSA70 is a distinct, standalone amp in the range, capable of...

@jafant thanks! To be clear, I have the small 0.5 and not the big 5 model, nevertheless they are unbelievable.  Funny how the Copland CSA70 can efficiently power the LRS+ but not the CS.5. After so many amplifiers it was the Kinki Studio combo t...

I have been enjoying my Thiel CS.5 from time to time, as I roll several components along the year, but they have been a bit forgotten by the arrival of the Magnepan LRS+, little more than a year ago. The CS.5 sounded very good powered by the Vinc...
Kinki Studio EX-P7 pre-amp
@tekaudiospecialties1  my amp pursuit was a short one: just bought a used-but-mint EX-M7 power amp!
Would Totem Arro's be a significant upgrade from Kef Q150's
@hagarthehorrible  Hi Helge, I don’t know why I can’t reply directly to your private message, because I am getting an Audiogon “error” alert. Anyway, your question was: I currently have Totem Arro speakers and am contemplating the Model 1 Signa...
Looking for a CD Player
I would go for the Rega Saturn MkIII, it has all the qualities a good CD player should possess: quality, sound and features… Oh and looks in my opinion.
Magnepan LRS+ which amps do you use ? * 100 watts or less **
I am using the LRS+ (on optional stands) with the Copland CSA70 and the result is absolutely fantastic!
Magnepan LRS+ resistors on the tweeters… which?
More than the treble issues of before, now completely fixed, to my absolute surprise it is the bass that is puzzling me, in a positive way. With the Copland CSA70 the LRS+ is beautifully balanced with a total engaging and satisfying bass output: t...
Magnepan LRS+ resistors on the tweeters… which?
Finally I have found the perfect partner for the LRS+: the Copland CSA70 integrated amplifier. Spec wise it kind of defies logic, comparing to what most people (and myself) thought that was needed to feed the little Maggies, but it is a revelation...
Audiolab 9000cdt vs Audiolab 6000cdt vs Teac 505t
@tpcarter responding to your question about the 9000CDT and the Atoll DR200 Signature: I would definitely buy the Atoll without any hesitation. It is a superior machine, designed to the best performance well beyond the price, as all the Atoll prod...
Magnepan LRS+ resistors on the tweeters… which?
Currently, I have the feeling that I am in a middle of something with the LRS+… on one side there is the speaker positioning and on the other the amplification. In some degree, the evaluation of one is connected with the other. The Rogue RP-1 / N...
Magnepan LRS+ resistors on the tweeters… which?
@delfincek thanks for the suggestions. I few weeks ago I have already contacted Hifi Collective UK and now have the full price of the Mills, including custom taxes. Meanwhile, I already have 1R, 1R5 and 2R2 Mundorf 10W resistors to try… the 1R5 i...
Magnepan LRS+ resistors on the tweeters… which?
@toddalin, thanks a lot for the suggestions and detailed information. Perhaps I can buy the Mills resistors in the UK :)
