time to discuss kt-88's
Kevziek- I tend to agree with you with just about any tube... a good 15 to 40 hours and they are good to go. The Ei KT-90 Type III is the ONLY exception I have had in over a decade of tube rolling. I thought I was being fed a line when I was told ...
Electraglide Ultra Khan II Stmt. vs. Harmonix X-DC
Harmonix X-DC Studio Master vs. Electraglide Ultra Khan II Statement... thx
time to discuss kt-88's
Hey Basement - you can also verify with Kevin @ Upscale Audio, but I do think I was told 400+ hours on the KT-90's... and that is not the easiest amount of time to log on tube amps! However, when you do reach that point over 400 hours, you will kn...
Speakers you regret selling
Martin Logan SL3's... dynamics, bass & such was not their forte, however for this price range speaker paired with a good tube amp made magical music! The vocals, harmonics, timbre, etc. defied the price point of the total system!
time to discuss kt-88's
I have a suggestion of another avenue. I have tried Sovtek, Svetlana, JJ, and other KT-88's in the past in my Sonic Frontiers SFS-80. I mention this due to it using a pair of output tubes per channel as well. I was constantly tube rolling and was ...
Quicksilver V4 or Sonic Frontier Power 2
I haven't owned the Sonic Frontiers Power 2, but have owned the Sonic Frontiers SFS-80 (80 wpc) and now own the V-4's.My experience with the SFS-80 & the V-4's have both been great. Both are built like tanks, good reliability, easy biasing, an...
Opinion on Electraglide Ultra Khan Statement II
Thanks for the input. I decided to give it a try... should be here the end of this week, but I am sure the break-in won't happen overnight. Any input as to break-in time?
Has anyone heard Peter Malick group w/ Norah Jones
Yes, I have both and agree with you. Her second cd is not bad once you get used to it. However, I am NOT a country fan and was initially so dissapointed in the second cd I wrote an email to blue note... Both of the Peter Malick Group cd's featurin...
directional arrows on interconnects
In most cases yes. The lines are designating one end of the cable be inserted into the source and the arrows point away to the preamp. The preamp cable arrows will point to the amp. etc. In my experience the correct orientation will sound best.
Help me Choose Integrated
From what you describe you want in sonics with your associated equipment - you can't go wrong with the Unico. I owned one for quite some time (no Underwood mods - just NOS Mullard tubes) and it easily bested many out there. It will give you the sm...
Meadowlark Nighthawk vs Von Schweikert VR4 SE
Blaineaf, when I wrote "no one note bass" I meant the Nighthawk is not guilty of this. Some speakers tend to have an exagerrated or over emphasized bass at a certain frequency that stands out more than other bass notes... The Nighthawks are quite ...
Meadowlark Nighthawk vs Von Schweikert VR4 SE
I had the opportunity to audition the VR4 SE and currently own the Nighthawk, so you already know which one I preferred. With that being stated, they are both GREAT speakers for their given price point. The stregnths of the VR4 in my opinion, were...
Quicksilver V4 amps
Bigkidz-I do have the Quicksilver V4's (Ei KT-90 type III) tube compliment driving the Meadowlark Nighthawks. They are a superb match. For now I am using the Quicksilver line stage with NOS Mullard 12AX7's. I compared the line stage to the Rouge 9...
Shunyata Hydra
I would also like to hear your comparisons on the Hydra 8 vs. the BP-3.5 Signature. I can let you know for a fact, the 3.5 Signature will go through some crazy "swings" in sonics the first 4 or 5 days, seem to be 80% there after 10-12 days, and ab...
Meadowlark Swift vs. Soliloquy vs. Concertinos
I have owned the Soliloquy 6.2's and the Meadowlark Ospreys (both next step up speakers in the line) and auditioned the 5.0's, the 5.3's and the swift in the past. I would say the largest difference if you stated you are mainly looking for acousti...
