CD Help I am with Kehut and Beavis. I have owned the JD-100A and would suggest the stock mod with NOS Mullard CV4004. I have also heard the level 2 mod from Parts Connexion and would put my money on the stock unit and NOS tubes, IMO.Kehut has done more tu...
Which of These Budget SS Preamps? For what he is looking for the Adcom GFP-750 is really quite good - if I recall correctly it was designed by Nelson Pass. It should fit the sonic characteristics you say he is looking for. Good luck.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone I would also like to echo Bin's comments. Pat, there is not much I can say that others haven't. God Bless, you and your loved ones will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Shorting caps/Cardas protective caps worth the $? I was just about to purchase a bunch of them after hearing of them and (if memory serves me correct) was speaking with Emmanuel Go of First Sound about a possible upgrade on my preamp and he strongly recommended against the use of them on his prea...

Need some juice --- High power amps H2o Signature Monoblocks should be added to your list - they are a relatively new startup company. Very primitive website at: http://www.iceh2oaudio.comThere are many reviews, most over at the Apogee users forum. There are a few others out there t...
Ideas for long rca interconnect? I would also recommend Nsgarch's reply. Spending a bit up front and getting a comparison and how a given cable reacts in your system is by far the best approach. It does take more time up front, however you are allowing yourself at least somewhat ...
H2O Owner Survey ? I own a pair of the H2o Signature Monoblocks. I have nothing but praise and respect for Henry, and his amplifiers. It has only been a few months for me, however well into the period of time in which any unforseen anomaly appears in a system that w...
did lightning do this? What timing... lightning actually struck near/both my neighbors and my house on Monday evening as a storm rolled through... It blew out two of my TV's, caller id boxes, my wireless router, the sprinkler (lawn irrigation) system. The cable from the...
Review: H2o Audio Signature Monoblocks Muralman1 - You may want to hold off on the Shunyata Sidewinders... I have owned them and the Taipans (next amp cord up from sidewinder). The Taipans are very fast and dynamic as well as clean, however a bit on the cool side in respects to body in...
Cool Amps Needed for Eggleston Savoy's One more note on the H2o amps, they have a satisfaction guarantee. If you aren't satisfied with the performance, you lose the cost of freight both ways. This tells of the confidence the designer has in his amp... not to mention being manufacturer ...
Cool Amps Needed for Eggleston Savoy's I have auditioned the Rowland 201 and 501's before I auditioned the H20 monoblocks (standard version). I own the H20 Signature Monoblocks. That should give you an idea of my feelings between the two. The Rowlands have a much nicer "jewelry box" lo...
Meadowlark Blue Herron 2 vs. Usher 8871 Just to post another opinion for anyone who is reading this thread in the archives, I would beg to differ with Aintitgr8 on the dynamics and the finish quality. I have a local audiophile, actually two with the Usher 8871's and while they are a lot...
VTL 450 Monos and 5.5 Pre. Stock tube manufacturer Make sure to contact VTL or a VTL dealer... I was considering their amps before I purchased the Quicksilver V4's and decided to not consider VTL after the dealer informed me if you use any tube other than what the factory provides it voids the war... |
