best sounding DVD transport? Nothing that is stock compares to modded DVD players, even the extremely expensive ones.
Sony S7700, S7000, or ??? best low cost transport? Reubent - you just didn't select the right modder. The Sonys make superb transports: 7000, 7700 and 9000es. I prefer the simplicity, low power usage and size of the 7700. Mods focused on the digital output electronics by an experienced digital des...
Old used high end transport vs new same price ? Dont waste your money on old technology. Get a good recent DVD player and get it modded. The Sony's or Philips with dual-laser are superb tranports. The mechanisms and control systems are far superior to any CD-only transport. you ge tthe best of ...
Is my 1988 Nakamichi OMS-1 worth repairing? Dopogue is right. Older technology CD players are junk for transports. Get yourself a Sony or Philips DVD player with dual-laser, such as the DVP-S7700 or 9000es and get it modded. A superb transport once modded.
What cable to use with KRELL Why don't you mod your Krell equipment so it sounds good instead of bandaiding with power or speaker cables? If it has Mosfet output devices, just sell it and get bipolars unless you are willing to immerse it in LN02...
What cable to use with KRELL I've made this comment before, so I'll make it again. It makes no sense whatsoever to ask what cord sounds right with a particular equipment. Now, if you had asked what cord works well with a preamp or pre-pro, this might make some sense. If a par...
Scott Nixon outboard DAC's, any good? One audiocircle shootout:http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewtopic.php?t=6727
Is this a deal or what .... Tireguy - The only DACs that I have heard that sound analog without HF rolloff are:1) EMM labs2) PT P-3A with Turbomod and superclock2
Does good DAC improve sonics of low end transport Jazzdude - you should consider getting the jukebox transport modded. Most Sony players make excellent transports once modded.
CD Transport recommandation DVD players make excellent transports once modded. They typically beat CD-only players hands-down. They have the advantage of high-precision mechanisms and servo control systems for DVD's and with some players, like Sony and Philips, there are two...
Does good DAC improve sonics of low end transport The right DAC will make a world of difference, however it would be a good idea to mod the transport to make it a good one or you will not get the real performance from the DAC. Most DVD players make excellent transports, but only when they have th...
CD lense cleaner. Is it necessary ? If you live in a dusty environment, lens cleaning is mandatory. The dust build-up over time will definitely affect the sound. I have never damaged anything using the cleaning disk. You are more likely to damage something using an anti-resonance mat.
Technics SL-P1300 CD Player : good transport ? No stock CD player will have less jitter than a DVD player. They are so cheap, you should just get an older top of line DVD player and get it modded.
Power Cords Snake Oil ?? Sean - I will try the zoebel experiment. What values do you recommend?
Power Cords Snake Oil ?? Flex wrote:"Audioengr, have you done a control experiment where you take your amp and dac to a city environment with really dirty power, fluctuating voltage, and rfi. Does the power cord independence hold for these conditions?"I recently lived in ... |
