USB output from Foobar with Windows XP?
You should not be using KS or ASIO with the Benchmark DAC-1 USB. It is a driverless firmware that bypasses kmixer. Just use Directsound or DirectSound2.Steve N.Empirical Audio
iPod to a Benchmark Media DAC-1 D/A
I'm planning to do this, but only in conjunction with my Pace-Car reclocker that outputs I2S to an I2S DAC. I believe I can bring-out the I2S interface of the iPod on the docking connector.Steve N.Empirical AudioManufacturer
Audiophile USB to PCM
Benefits of USB - Currently the implementations are superior to networked, and most wirless networked servers do not support 24/96.Networked is superior technically to USB because the clock is regenerated at the receiving unit. It is being held-ba...
Music server quality.
Wireless and networked servers are superior technically to USB or Firewire, although some wireless servers are limited to 16//44.1 currently. Networked is superior because networked streaming audio is clocked at the destination, not from the sourc...
Transport/DAC upsample question
Audiobb - the USB converter can provide upsampled data at 24/96 to the DAC if the upsampling takes place on the computer, such as using SRC for PC's.
Sonos turns your house into an ipod
Johnmcelfresh - I mod practically all of these and sell my own USB converters, so I know what they all sound like stock. It's not that the strategy of the Wi-Fi players is no good, it's the implementations that are lacking. The question was asked "...
Sonos turns your house into an ipod
Mods for the Sonos will be available in the near future. I have one in the queue.
Which USB implementation, Benchmark built-in or ?
The Off-Ramp uses a low-jitter Superclock4. The Benchmark DAC-1 USB uses a simple inexpensive crystal. The Benchmark DAC-1 USB sounds very nice, and the reclocking that upsamples to 24/192 does help eliminate some of the jitter, but there are quit...
Up to the Minute: Streaming Bits to Audiophile DAC
CWlondon - No, we are not in the dark ages, you are just looking in the wrong places IMO.Steve N.
General question on PC audio set-up
I'm afraid you are missing everything, sorry. The fact that you are not using upgraded interconnects or speaker cables and a "splitter" tells all. The entire system must be tweaked/modded in order to get superb sound. No splitters allowed. The oth...
Up to the Minute: Streaming Bits to Audiophile DAC
I believe this device is very similar to the M-Audio Transit, but it probably uses the PCM270X chips instead and no software driver. Unlike the Transit, it would be limited to 48kHz. You could get digital S/PDIF output from it just like the Transi...
Wireless USB
The dongle is only an idea at this point, perhaps for an OEM. They have no design plans for this.Pardales - Yes, it will work with my Off-Ramps, but the clock in it will undoubtedly need to be replaced with a Superclock4. I expect it to be too jit...
Wireless USB
I've pre-ordered one. I am thinking about putting one inside my new Formula One DAC. After talking with the rep, I believe it will work fine. Working with Icron to determine FCC requirements for OEM boards.
Wireless USB
If the Icron device supports Isochronous, it should work. I hope the B/W is sufficient for 24/96. Since it is based on 802.11G and not ultrawideband, I think it should work fine. Kind of spendy though....It's interesting that the "cablefree" thing...
Sonos turns your house into an ipod
The quality of these stock Wi-Fi converters just isn't quite up to a good transport or a good USB converter, yet. Even modded, they fall behind some USB solutions. However, the Pace Car I2S reclocker could change all that. Hopefully, Slim-Devices ...
