Flaws in this chain? ...the digital stream , the 1’s and 0’s, are sent to the DAC that converts to analog, as long as those 1’s and 0’s get there the DAC reconstructs them using it’s clock since the embedded clock information and any jitter that was sent in the stream...
Flaws in this chain? Yes, jitter was the #1 issue which is why I'm glad they have figured it out in well designed modern dacs that have been made in the last 20 years or so.Some designers have started to figure it out, but not many IME. Most USB interfaces suck becaus...
Can you help pinpoint why I am now satisfied with my digital setup? You're (not your) saying the: Nad M51 with (4.7v xlr) (2.4v se) output at 180ohm output impedance, is not a great match into the PL integrated at 100kohm input impedance that only needs only 0.36v input for full wattage output??That is what I'm sa...
Flaws in this chain? kahlenz I think you hit the nail on the head from everything I have read about jitter on engineering and pro audio sites it's another blown out of proportion worry any jitter produced is outside the audible range and if you are using a well built ...
Can you help pinpoint why I am now satisfied with my digital setup? The Shiit preamp has lower output impedance than the NAD DAC going directly to your Prima Luna integrated. It is like having a buffer, either SS or tube to get more current drive to your integrated. The NAD alone runs out of gas as far as the Pr...
Recommend A CD Player With A Good Transport To Feed My DAC - Maybe Under $700. My customers tell me that my S/PDIF coax BNC-BNC cables, the Standard for $275 and the Reference for $499 are both giant-killers. They send me many cables to try for comparison and none of them stack-up. Both cables come with RCA adapters. 30-d...
Technical Network Streamer Question It matters big-time. If you are using USB, the playback software, CODECs and the hardware/power supply all affect the SQ. The jitter of the master clock inside matters. Even after optimizing all of these, you still need one of these to clean-up...
Recommend A CD Player With A Good Transport To Feed My DAC - Maybe Under $700. Just use your Arcam player and add a Synchro-Mesh reclocker and a cheap Markertec BNC coax cable. It will beat anything you can buy for 10X that. $699 for the Synchro-Mesh. 7psec of jitter:https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=157348.0 Ste...
Flaws in this chain? But here's a question....why don't device makers, at least high end device makers, include some method for decreasing jitter in the device itself? Many DAC's have reclockers and FIFO's inside to minimize jitter. The problem is that IME most of the...
Flaws in this chain? I guess my point is why spend even $150 to correct (purify, decrapify) the signal from a $100 Apple TV? Seems like I should save my money until I can come up with a better wireless solution....whatever that would be and however much that would cos...
Flaws in this chain? Jitter causes the image to smear and even have halos. Vocalists seem 2-3 feet wide. Cowbells sound dull. Pianos sound warm and bloomy. Difficult to pinpoint deep sounds in the image.Reducing jitter is like cleaning the dirty window so you can see ...
DAC Confusion Both DACs are mediocre at best IMO. Get a separate Metrum or Audio Note DAC and feed it with a low jitter source, like a server reclocked with a Synchro-Mesh. Get a Prima Luna tube amp instead and buy replacement tubes on ebay for it.
Flaws in this chain? Edit DeleteiFi SPDIF iPurifier is for coaxial not optical which OP runs.It has both coax and Toslink in and out.Steve N.Empirical Audio
Flaws in this chain? Just try the iFi SPDIF iPurifier for $150 on Amazon. You can return it if it does not make a difference. I use two of them for my home theater.Steve N.Empirical Audio
Flaws in this chain? If you cannot afford the ~1K for the EA setup, try the iFi SPDIF iPurifier for $150 on Amazon. You get what you pay for.Steve N.Empirical Audio |
