B&W CDM-1 original ............... opinions wanted
At the time, these were one step below the 805 Matrix. I had these when they first came out(1997, I think). I did a direct comparison at the time and noted that the Matrix sounded a bit less muddled at higher volume. This was due to the Matrix cab...
Nautilus & S series
The cabinets are identical(on the outside), but the tweeter housing is slightly different. The label near the speaker terminals will say 803S. Hope this helps.
B&W CDM 1 SE or CDM 1 NT
The CDM 1SE has the matrix style tweeter and the NT has the Nautilus style tweeter. I would say that the NT would be the better choice. The Nautilus tweeter is a bit more airy and open. I hope that this helps.
B&W Nautilus SCM1
They should work fine. Consider a good sub to augment the low end. I would keep them mounted to the wall because they tip easily because of their shape.

Sunday morning music...what's spinning?
Acousic jazz, Brazillian jazz, Fado(Portuguese blues), really, anything with an acoustic flavor.
Rel sub question?
You are less likely to get any grounding hum when you ground to the amp. There is no sound difference between the two grounding connections.
5 channel interconnects? ac zen
Cobalt cables.
Preamp with theater passthrough. Option?
Blue Circle BC 21. You may be able to find a used one with the HT pass through. This would be way below you're $4000 budget. You could also get the latest(I don't remember the new model name) BC preamp w/ a HT passthrough option for a bit less tha...
Subwoofer for 2 channel high resolution system
Bob is right. You need to test drive some of the subs you listed. I tried Velodyne and B&W before a ended up with a Rel. The Rel just blended with my room/system better(even though I run B&W speakers). Good luck!
Subwoofer for 2 channel high resolution system
I would go for either a Rel Studio or Stentor. A Stadium(no longer made) may work also, depending on you're system and room size.
Subwoofer reccomendations
Try a Rel Storm III. You should be able to pick up a used one here on Audiogon for about a grand or less.
Looking for new universal player/Arcam DV137?
How about a Denon 5910? You should be able to pick up a non "Ci" version for less than $1500.
Ukulele, anyone?
I saw him in Honolulu a few years back. He is a huge star over there. I bought all his music after the show.
Why are LCDs more popular than plasma?
I have a Sony business plasma monitor that runs at 1080i. I think that it still way better than any 1080p LCD out there! Plasma is much easier on the eyes than LCD, especially if you stare at a computer monitor all day! I'm sure that it is much ch...
