Manufacturers past their heyday
C'mon guys! SPECTRAL....
any suggestions on what to replace Bluesound Node 2i with
Only one choice withinn your budget. The dCS network bridge.Software clunky compared to Bluesound, but SQ heavenly.  Depth, detail, presence, musicality.   It is currently a legacy product as the manufacturer's stated objective with the NB was to ...
How do you know what your weakest link is?
If you can stretch for it, try LS footers for speakers from critical mass systems.  They decouple your speakers from the room in a wonderful way.  In my system they removed all traces of edginess (yes edginess) and boom.  Their CS footers for elec...
How many of you are digital only systems?
All digital since the early 2000's.  Gave away my SOTA star sapphire, cleaning unit and LP's and felt much lighter for it.  Nowadays I stream using a dCS streamer directly to active Kii speakers. Happy camper. My 2 cents: Invest in reclocking  audi...
Why don't more recordings have soundstage outside of speakers
MC.  Agree totally your comments on vibration and resonance control - my system set up is similar.  Footers and hft's.  Plus diffusion planels at reflection points and resonators,  Schumann type, but most of them actually tuned to the room.   Inte...
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
As for resonance and vibration, I've neverheard that "tube amps are more resistant to this factor." I always thought they were LESS resistant, because of the glass tubes. That's a startling claim and I have never heard that before.I have never he...
The Placebo Effect
Two easy tests at home alone:Is there a big grin on your face? Can you now make out more of the words of songs that were just garbage earlier? If yes, no placebo is doing it. Best wishes
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
Are the SS amps fully burned in? I find that a 600 -800 hour burn in helps bring out subtle details in imaging. The other thing I'm thinking is resonance and vibration.  Tube amps are more resistant to this factor.  So if not already used, good iso...
What Is The Most Romantic Song That You Have Ever Listen To?
Some really romantic songs here!  My pick is 'some enchanted evening'.  By anyone.  Just heard it for the first time a couple of years ago whilst watching South Pacific.  Can't get it out of my head.
When did you most enjoy the music?
Yes I enjoyed music in a totally different way then.  Good new music was a revelation, usually on the very first listen. Hendrix, The Doors, CTA, The Band etc....Today, I am just as obsessed, but new music doesn't grab me the same way.  It is very...
What equipment should I invest in next?
Two new tech products I have recently found transformational in my 50 years of trying near every damn thing, including MC's spring thingys. 1) equipment and speaker supports from critical mass systems.  CS2 and LS2 respectively.2)audiophile switch...
What do you have on order RIGHT NOW.
LS2 loudspeaker feet from critical mass systems. Were due in today but FedEx international delays, now expecting them on the 30th.  US to India.
AC outlets
Synergistic Research orange....you will be laughing all the way to your listening area.
Dedicated power
One dedicated 20 amp line is more than enough.  In my setup installing an audiophile quality circuit breaker had a bigger impact on SQ than the dedicated line itself.  Regular circuit breakers do bad things to the sound, so check out the audiophil...
Grounding with a Earth box?
I use the synergistic Research active grounding box.  When it was accidentally switched off the other day (very tiny light) I spent the day wondering why everything sounded flat...the 'life' seemed to be missing.MC gives a very plausible explanati...
