I feel bad for Generation X and The Millennial's
This is the boomerest boomer post that ever did boomer. Signed, A Gen Xer (the generation that was sick of Boomers way before everyone else hopped aboard that train lol)
Recapping an ARC LS-5 mkiii
@gs5556 appreciate the heads up. I’m still learning all the ins and outs on caps/etc., so thanks for clarifying. @tecknik Thanks. Yeah, I jumped on it last year because I know they don’t come up very often and I really wanted to see how well it p...
Vinyl - One Word - WOW!!
I'm about to jump on this vinyl thing after I swore I wasn't. Have a phono preamp on order, and will probably pick up a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon or Pro. Right now I own one record, but I have friends who own a bunch and I can invite them over to brin...
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system?
Who cares about "perfect" when "good enough" is availble for around $600 with the new Bluesound Node (like others have mentioned) with the improved DAC. Then sign up for Qobuz. That’s literally enough. Easy peasy. If you wanna add an outboard DAC...
Possible to limit Bluesound Node to 44k (redbook)?
Thanks so much @oddiofyl. Qobuz allows me to do this and fixed the issue. Plus, it sounds better. Just cancelled my Amazon HD subscription.
What’s your latest high-end audio purchase?
Bought a Schitt Freya+. I liked it, but thought it sounded kinda thin when compared to a modified Aragon 24K SP I have (even with NOS tubes). So I picked up a Sonic Frontiers SFL-2 modified with V-Caps and had it further upgraded by Parts Connexio...
Advice for Streaming Newbies - Best Bang for Our Bucks
I like the Rose 150B. It has everything I’d want in a streamer, except I don’t need the DAC (I’d get it anyway because that screen is hard to say no to (outside of all the other benefits). Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 what the benefits of...
Advice for Streaming Newbies - Best Bang for Our Bucks
@jabbaman even though I am not a big fan of ASR, I find myself caught between two sides with regards to streaming. Like, a lot of people say they loved their EtherRegen, but ASR was like, "This thing does nothing." Same for some of these audiophil...
Advice for Streaming Newbies - Best Bang for Our Bucks
Don't a lot of DAC's and/or streamers solve these problems without needing to purchase all this extra stuff? It's packets of data, correct? 0's and 1's. It seems all this money spent on magic routers and cables and other doo-dads could just be sp...
Best High Current amplifiers stable into low impedances
@lanx0003, Not sure on the "current" spec/capacity, but the 8008BB is dual mono rated at 200 watts into 8 ohms and 400 into 4. It has two torodial transformers, each rated at 1.1 kVa. Each channel has two 35,000µ capacitors...which means each ch...
Streamlining streamers
Oh, the Aurender stuff looks amazing (and sounded great at a dealer I listened to in Santa Monica recently), but that's beyond my budget ATM. I may just pick up a Bluesound Node for the short term and explore moving up to the Aurender line of stre...
Streamlining streamers
Hi @blisshifi, thanks for the response. 1) I am wondering if there’s an option where I have the main streamer with my main system that’s a one-box system where I could somehow send that signal to other systems. 2) Two, listening room is separate...
Best High Current amplifiers stable into low impedances
There are a lot of 90's amps that can provide high current. A bunch have been mentioned. Krell, Parasound, McCormack... Aragon is also one that can supply high-current loads. I sold my 8008BB to a guy who had some Martin Logans, and he loved wha...
Anyone Know Where To Get The 4 Big Can Caps?
If it's a D400 mkii, I bought one off Ebay and the caps were leaking. Tons of feedback. I sent it to Pyramid Audio in Austin. AR won't touch those anymore (as previously stated). I think the old caps are Philips, but don't quote me on that. When ...
Amir and Blind Testing
I remember reading somewhere (and now I forget where) that A/B testing relies on our short term memory, which isn't the best method. Not sure if that's true or not, but I felt it was an interesting point. But that would at least explain why a lot...
