Is it the gear or the ears? I cant do that! Great gear makes good to great music better. Since I embraced great gear I can listen to genres that 15 years ago I'd have NOTHING to do with.
One of the most pleasurable aspects of this hobby! I really love Tidal on Roon for finding new to me music. I also regularly listen to LPs. reel to reel, SACD/CD, and cassette. Every now and then music on youtube or a bluray.
Most recent concert Hiromi last Saturday in Dallas, and then AC/DC in Arlington on Monday. Made the 350 mile round trip both days.
SACD Player/Transport Choices @hifipassion definitely agree on it being a great value. It is heartening to know the mechanical noise at start up is normal. Yeah, even what they term as the owner's manual in the shipped product is just nothing more than the printed quick star...
SACD Player/Transport Choices @hifipassion I too received the ONIX transport several days ago, buying from Forte at the 10% off. Do not have extensive time with it yet. But you mentioned it is quiet. At spin up, and lasting for a few seconds, do you not hear a mechanical no...
SACD Player/Transport Choices PS Paul does say there will be a new SACD transport soon. Well the last one sold for 7K, so this Shanling/Onix is a bargain. I suppose should wait for the first reviews to flow in though. I understand it is shipping around mid month. By the en...
SACD Player/Transport Choices THe Onix can also be ordered direct from the US distributor: Forte Distribution for USD 2399. plus your state sales tax... and free shipping. However, even though Onix is partnered with Shangling, the Forte first time Shanglin buyer 10% discount...
Which Amplifier for Sonus Faber Olympica 3 Speaker I have Oly 1s and initially tried driving them with McIntosh tube amps (MC75 monoblocks). No go at all. Muddy undefined mids/lows. Enter a Marchand crossover, and a beefy Class D amp, and all is well. The 75s now drive solely the tweeters.
AGD Audion GaN Class D In The House That GaN tech is not necessarily needed to enjoy Class D.
AGD Audion GaN Class D In The House I have the e-purfy Audiophonics Class D amp. I decided to try it after I just couldn't get satisfaction with my MC75 tubed monoblocks. To be fair I just don't think the 75s had enough oomph to properly power the inefficient Sonusfaber Oly 1 book ...
room size question. 12 inch subs--Rythmiks. Lol not 12 foot---that would be something!!
room size question. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10223074687878862&set=a.2556971486848 I am in an 11 by 12 room with 8 foot untreated ceiling. I too use GIK acoustic panels. The speakers are pulled into the room say 3 feet. I have a few feet behind my...
Weak Link in chain as I upgrade from mid-fi? Just a thought-- You have a decent system now. As long as the name isn't Lloyd, Soundesign, Bose, or a HT receiver...you get the idea....I wouldn't call it mid-fi. Your system is especially suited for a non-specific room.
2nd systems- who’s got one? My 2d system is out in the loft and is also my office. 4 monitors with a custom PC. I run a dragonfly red, Advent Smallers, SVS sub, TEAC CD/SACD, Pioneer turntable, Kenwood 3 head cassette deck, vintage McIntosh receiver used as a preamp, and a L...
Whats on your turntable tonight? Yes --it is just not that good. |
