14/4 wire for speakers- good idea? Bad idea?
Excellent insight guys. My gear is not super high end...but certainly not cheap, so I most certainly want to benefit from the dollars spent to date....let alone have a configuration that may create havoc between speakers and amp. Point of note Im ...

So to be clear cable in 4 or more seperate bundles twisted at the ends is not as effective or have the same properties as one braided strand? Thanks.

I think once twined at the ends it is effectively 11 guage. If higher end manufacturers use this design then it looks to be a sweet deal unless I’m missing something. I’m also doing bare wire termination.
Cartridge Suggestion Requested
I load mine at 1000 ohm. At or below 500 is far from ideal. Soundsmith recommends loading it at or close to 1000.

This is a jump in price but the Soundsmith Zephyr Star may bring to the party what you are seeking. I’ve had the 2m black, dynavector, and Benz carts. It’s the most balanced one of the lot and is my current go to pick up.
recommendations of phono preamps < $3000 range
Had an avid pulsus that I really liked. Very dynamic and punchy. Then went to a zesto andros. Phenoninal! You can get a used one for a great pride well under your limit.
Phono cable recommendations - high performance good value cable
I have a VPI Prime with a Soundsmith Zephyr Star. I have had good results with Morrow phono cables. They have several grades to choose from and even offer payment plans on the pricier models. I think my current cable is a ph4. Check them out.

Lamm ll2.1 a microphone???
A tube issue is music to my ears...hate to think it might be something else. I'll do a tube swap and see how it goes.
Lamm ll2.1 a microphone???
Hmm. I also get the same effect. The slightest touch to the chassis or volume knob is picked up very clearly. I even picked up symposium roller blocks to see if that would help.

Used ones are rarely up for sale/resale so guaging pricing is tough. Thoughts anyone?
