Which Road?
NO, NO SUCH THING AS “too many watts!!!”double impacts,?”.......you will need the power to drive those bada$$ speakers!!,anything less than 500W @ 8Ohms is a waste of your time and money. Expensive yes, but for most, a speaker w a handling of 400W...

Focal vs dynaudio
Dynaudio rocks. You need a more powerful amp.
B&W 801D trouble
Halfway volume is usually the max for most stereos.  Tweeters usually go zapped by under powering. Mids also. Would have a look at the crossovers for fried caps, and look at the mid ranges also. Been there, feel your pain.
Let’s share the music that gives us the chills every time.

Your thoughts on my plans..
Avr amps are not good for a 2 ch system    Grab a nice 250-300WPC amp.(300 is better)those speakers need juice. Not to overpower and damage em, but for headroom, and ease of the sound coming out.

Undeserving to be here??   ARE TOU SERIOUS!??never think like that, if you would have seen my very first stereo in 1983 , you would have laughed, and made fun of me for only having an 8-track player in it.  My first cassette player was an awesome ...

Klipsch is the problem.the searing, molar pain inducing highs of your speakers is your issue. Get a warmer speaker, problem solved. You need new speakers. Are cornwalls great, sure, for those who like the Klipsch sound.  Audition speakers BEFORE yo...

Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had?
The best except 1 mistake!!   Had the Altec Lansing M-510s’ for a while, but far inferior amps at the time.     Iat the time, I was interested in volume, not knowing the gems I had right in front of me.    I sent them back, and regretted it ever s...
Why do you need so much power?
2 watts, 20, 35 watts, etc etc.   there is no substitute for headroom, and having the reserves for those crescendos’ / peaks / quiet passages......and the full on massive orchestral frenzy of woodwinds, bass, as the fury of the full orchestra slam...
