Any better DAC then dCS Scarlatti?
The Gravitas NB-1 are not made to move anything else but your heart, Murat. Hearing is believing! Hope to see you soon during comparision of NWO with Scarlatti!Me too! :-)Best,Alex Peychevwww.aplhifi.com
Any better DAC then dCS Scarlatti?
Hello Murat,I now think that APL will win this battle, because digital cable is a dramatic problem!I think you are correct! :-)I only worry about tubes inside:)The pair of the vintage E182CC tubes is outside the player, not inside. :-) The tube st...
Does the quality of a digital signal matter?
.....original CD was not readable and your rip is not "bit perfect"."Bit perfect" always reminds me of "bits are bits". :-)In both cases, when it comes to audio quality, this is not really true (it's irrelevant), IMHO!Best,Alex Peychevwww.aplhifi.com
AMR / EMM / PLAYBACK Designs
Frank,How would you compare the PD with the APL?Two things:1. In my opinion, Andreas Koch is not only a very skilful designer but also a very nice person. 2. Several NWO owners have the PD at home and, from what I know, they like the way it sounds...
Who has found happiness giving up cd player?
My efforts extracting the most out of computer audio started some years ago. I have several computers that I use for audio (desktops and laptops), various professional audio PCI cards with S/PDIF and Firewire outputs. Other hardware includes Trans...
Opinions on Esoteric clocks ......
Hello Garebear,Correct, the external clock cannot improve the jitter of the internal clocks; it locks them to the same reference frequency. I understand that frequency stability/deviation specification of external clocks is extremely tight (this i...
Opinions on Esoteric clocks ......
Bugman03, I've heard this improvement myself with Esoteric's P01 and pair of D01 DACs in their room at CES. When it comes to synchronous digital audio components (such as Esoteric are), it is beneficial to have external clock because it "locks" th...
How good of a DAC is the Logitech Transporter
I am sorry for the confusion, Raymond! When used as a network player (wi-fi or LAN), the Transporter is limited to 96/24. This is due the processor they are using, I would guess. When used as a DAC with its digital inputs, the Transporter can do 1...
Opinions on Esoteric clocks ......
If you will allow me, I’d like to elaborate on the external clocks use.Something that should be realized about using a "super-precision clock" is that the stability of the clock in ppm (parts per million) does not have anything to do with improvin...
How good of a DAC is the Logitech Transporter
Raymond, the Transporter is limited to 96K so adding Hiface will not help. Even when used as a digital source to an external DAC, the Transporter still can't do more than 96K. Of course, the newer Slim Servers make possible the playback of audio f...
How good of a DAC is the Logitech Transporter
Raymond, I am evaluating Transporter and Hiface as "digital transports" with my DAC using S/PDIF connection (I am not interested in the Transporter DAC/Analog section). So, I wouldn't say that Hiface is just a convenience and, unlike Transporter, ...
How good of a DAC is the Logitech Transporter
I've been evaluating the Hiface USB to S/PDIF from M2Tech. With my asynchronous DAC, the Hiface considerably outperforms my Transporter (both upgraded or stock). The Hiface was connected to my Sony VGN-SZxxx Sony Laptop streaming wirelessly audio ...
How good of a DAC is the Logitech Transporter
Sure, wireless or wired with LAN cable, the clock jitter remains very low. Of course, you can experiment and see if you hear a difference between the two.Best,Alex Peychev
How good of a DAC is the Logitech Transporter
Hi Raymond, Yes, that is correct; the clock jitter coming from the S/PDIF receiver (all digital inputs) is very high compared to the low jitter clocks used for the wireless. IMO, this is the major reason why many prefer audio stream from their com...
Digital out... does source matter?
I recommend keeping them uncompressed (AIFF or WAV). If compression is a must, try MP4a (Apple Lossless) and Monkey's Audio before FLAC as it sounds worse to my ears. But of course, you can experiment and hear for yourself. :-)Best,Alex Peychevwww...
