Audio Doctor goes to Axpona observations so far I have not seen much mention of it but I was really impressed with the Spendor room and the D7. I kept coming back and stayed longer each time. Wonderful balance for these ears. The Chord dac and integrated seemed to make for terrific value too. T...
Really satisfied??? After almost 40 yrs of involvement in this hobby the most important thing ( for me) is the spectrum roughly between 200-400 hz. If a system (regardless of quality) is washed out in this area I cannot get "into" it and it loses it's natural potent...
Denon DL-160 Cartridge It is an absolutely awesome "budget" cartridge. You can't beat it for the money it went for when discontinued. An absolute crime that Denon dropped it. Works great in medium mass arms, and especially the Jelco 750D.
Switching to solid state amp? Speaking in very general terms, I have found that tubes often have a "rightness" in the treble that I often, but not always have found lacking in solid state. I would almost call it a "phasey" character that keeps cymbal taps and bells from soundi...
Why do turntables sound different? Yes, and perhaps more often built to a price point jeopordizing performance potential.
Why do turntables sound different? I would think that would make for a noticeable improvement. Also, don't misunderstand, as I think the Technics are excellent and great value too. I just think this whole w&f measurement thing is way overblown. Maybe I am biased as I had some ...

Mod my Rega P5 OR...time to move on ?? As a budget alternative I have used ZYX carts in Jelco 750 tonearm and the carts work quite well with the heavier arm.
Mod my Rega P5 OR...time to move on ?? I'm not sure you will notice as much of a difference moving up the Rega line as going to a heavy platter design. Maybe just stick with what you have unless you are finding a particular parameter lacking.
Anyone experience Cala Mighty Sound Denon 103's. Looking forward to the reports. Big fan of the 103 series and always interested in new "flavors".
Mod my Rega P5 OR...time to move on ?? It sounds like you have the upgrade bug, and typically a heavy platter table will give you net gains across the board if well designed. Selling your Rega and finding, for example a used heavy Systemdek would be a reliable pathway, among others of ...
Mod my Rega P5 OR...time to move on ?? Substantial improvement is possible without an unnecessarily large outlay.
Upgrading Turntable suggestions ChaksterAt what price point is spending money on a belt drive not a waste of money?
Upgrading Turntable suggestions Check out my website and compare to anything ever made at virtually any price, new or used. Cheers
Mod my Rega P5 OR...time to move on ?? Adding mass is where you are likely to see the most improvement but unfortunately cannot realistically be "upgraded". Regards |
