Amarra for iTunes at RMAF...
Just noticed the Legato is constrained to 44.1. That's a shame, but at $500 will get one anyway. Thanks Kana813.
Amarra for iTunes at RMAF...
I have owned 2 Genesis Digital Lenses Kana813 so you lost the bet. I will have a look at the ART Legato. I have a V3 Cosecant from Wavelength, which uses asynchronous USB, and find its performance is affected by the computer used (and Amarra), but...
Amarra for iTunes at RMAF...
What was the asynchronous USB to SPDIF convertor Kana813? I am not aware of any other than the Wavelength Wavelink. There is a Musiland but on examining the board it is clear that it cannot be asynchronous, despite the claims. I would be very keen...
Amarra for iTunes at RMAF...
Kana813, you need to use a suitable way of getting the bits out of the Macbook or else using Amarra is pointless. An asynchronous USB Dac, an Empirical Audio interface, a Lynx card etc. If you don't then you won't hear any of the benefit of using ...
empirical audio or lynx aes 16 sound card
I think everyone is in agreement that x-axis, or timing, plagues digital audio, and that it ought to be able to be dealt with. Getting bit perfect transport of bits is very much achievable and so regenerating the clock data ought to solve the prob...
apodizing filter sonics
How would anyone know? I suppose if you had two identical players, one with and one without, you should be able to identify the difference. All such filters, over-sampling, NOS, filter or not, are controversial and are just different trade-offs fo...
empirical audio or lynx aes 16 sound card
That must be a very good DAC. But a claim to be completely immune to jitter is a very big one, and one that has many times before been made, only to prove to be untrue.I would be very interested to hear more about the so-called 2-D jitter reductio...
WAV vs. AIFF
Some DACs are more tolerant of jitter than others, some systems might smooth over the aggressive highs created by jitter, or not have the bass performance to expose the woolly bass caused by jitter. Also, the jitter you get with Windows is differe...
WAV vs. AIFF
Hi Kgturner, so my assertion that timing/jitter is an issue is specious, at best, huh? Perhaps the point was too subtle for you. Perhaps you just aren't good with analogies. Perhaps I explained it badly. My point is that I hear many people make st...
Amarra for iTunes at RMAF...
HeyMikey, I am using Amarra mini at this stage but also ran the full version for a month's trial before deciding. I may upgrade to the full version later, but its only advantages for me would be the higher sampling than 96kHz and I am currently li...
WAV vs. AIFF
Why don't you just let us all know when you have done on James63?
USB DACs with 24/192 via USB
The problem with the TAS review, from my reading of it and the author's other comments, is that the USB DACs were tested on the assumption that customers just wanted to plug them into their existing computers. Therefore the reviewer made no attemp...
empirical audio or lynx aes 16 sound card
You can run a long AES/EBU cable from either of these. Long cables are not exactly a great thing but the higher voltage of AES/EBU is the better way to go - even better than a long toslink.I found the Empirical Offramp 3 with Superclock 4 to sound...
Any reviews/input on Cary Audio Xciter DAC?
Do you know if it accepts a 24/192 signal? Or something lower and so will always be upsampling?
WAV vs. AIFF
WAV and AIFF are just raw data files and should perform the same. WAV can hold tags but there is no agreed standard. AIFF has got a standard for storing tags.Audiofun is right. The argument that FLAC and ALAC are bit perfect is like saying I am a ...
