The Right Speaker Cables
@deadhead1000 Ohno was the gateway for me. I'm at Au24se / Studio One now. If I improve my source components, I'll jump to Au24sx. None of their cables (entry to premium) sh*t the bed. Build quality and sonics great across the entire line.
The Right Speaker Cables
In Audience Cable I trust. Music alway sounds natural and balanced, but somehow more special their wire. Ohno is a great entry level cable, but I'd recommend pushing up to Studio One (the new AU24se) which is more than your budget, but if you're ...
Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused
Genelecs are super accurate and sound really good for studio music creation or cinema, but for audiophile home music listening they sound bit too clinical and chiseled for my taste. My guess is it's most likely due to the Class D amps that drive t...
Digital is far better than vinyl
For my system, I found I had to break approx. 10K on digital frontend before I was happy. With vinyl, 2.5K was enough to get me close to my digital frontend and keep me content. What that tells me is entry level vinyl is way better than entry lev...
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
Cost doesn't equal better. Just yesterday, I tried an Audioquest Vodka ethernet and I preferred the stock ethernet cable that came with the streamer. One is $500 retail, the other probably around $1 wholesale. Some might've call it better becaus...
What Gear Has Disappointed You?
Recently, I decided to try out a AmpliD Modern Class D amp from Pathos. Had high hopes that it would take me to the next plane of audiophila, but it was not to be. Class D might have come along way, but to my ears I didn’t like the sound of it. It...
Do You Tell Others How Much You Have Invested in Your System?
No-one asks, so no, I don't volunteer.
everything sounded great until the upgrade
I'd agree with a lot of the comments here. Listen to it casually for several weeks to let the amp settle in and for you to get use to the sound. Then you can begin to decide on what needs improvement. A good high quality DAC would solve your hars...
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same?
Makes sense to me. Fewer boxes, fewer cables, less visual clutter, less expense, more power savings, less physical weight. Wive approved. Lean and mean is how I prefer most things.
$1000 (used ok) Streamer Dac recommendation please
Chord Qutest on battery power with some nice cables changed my life. I use it near field on desktop speaker setup, but it's a modular setup and can be connected to the bigger system when I feel like doing so. It's a bit north of 1k, but a good va...
