A Worthwhile Untrasonic Cleaner
Man this is like deja vu all over again.....I spent well over a year researching the US cleaning thing and about 2 months ago had all my ducks in a row, took the plunge. I bought a cheap tank, 6L Chinese product that runs at 40kHz, 180W and would ...
Sumiko Blackbird Cartridge
Send it to Soundsmith as I did.  The first time, they were able to re-attach one of those hair-like wires that protruded from the side of the cartridge that I tried (don't do this, in other words) to tuck back in the grooves on the sides and broke...

Nottingham Space Deck and Space Arm question?
Upon further review......After a couple weeks with the 500,000cst silicone oil in the cueing mechanism, I can report to you that this is definitely the right stuff for a Space Arm.  As for cartridge, currently using an SAE1000E with a weight of 4....
Nottingham Space Deck and Space Arm question?
Update #2......300,000cst did NOT cause the 9" Spacearm to drop slowly enough. I sourced some 500,000cst and that has enough "sticky" to do the job. I would suggest, if you want the arm to drop even more slowly, 1,000,000cst but HAVE NOT tried it....
Nottingham Space Deck and Space Arm question?
Update, sorry it's taken so long but I just yesterday received what I thought would be the fix......not so, not even close!  The tech at Hollywood Sound sent me some 3,000cst silicone oil, and I expect he thought it was 300,000cst.  In any case, I...
Turntable sounds so much better when...
"I've got a screw loose and I'm feeling great!"And you probably sound really, really good too!!!
Turntable sounds so much better when...
Many interesting thoughts here in the posts above.....the whole time I was reading I was thinking about the late Tom Fletcher, who many of you know was the originator of the Nottingham Analogue Studios fine line of turntables (of which I am fortun...
Gonna have to ditch the Soundsmith Carmen II
What noromance said......give Peter a call at Soundsmith and see what he has to say about the issue.  Also, yogiboy makes a very good point, and perhaps you have already done so but lowering (or even raising) the VTA in my experience can really al...
Nottingham Space Deck and Space Arm question?
Thanks, Joegator81......so am I and I will report back as to what I find.
Nottingham Space Deck and Space Arm question?
OK, thanks for the kind responses.....I am just a bit confused at this point......everything I have researched tells me that this lift was made by Rega, and countless comparisons from images along with the maintenance info on VinylEngine confirms ...
Nottingham Space Deck and Space Arm question?
Thanks, Joe.....I have contacted HWDSound and spoken with Marc, who is a very pleasant person and quite helpful. As for the adjustment of the pivot set screw he did not really have a definitive answer although he seemed to agree with my method of ...

Sumiko Blackbird HO, SAE 1000 LC, Benz Micro MC20E2, Micro Acoustic 630, even a Shure High Track M91E. All sound good, some I believe a little better like the Blackbird which is what I am using at the moment. I'd also be interested in what others ...

When my friend brought over that UHQR of COTC I did a 96/24 needle drop and am listening to that right now. It doesn’t get much better unless of course you have a great copy of it on vinyl......🤠Thanks for the well-wishes with the cueing mechanism...
