KLH Model Nine, how do I depot the wax cans?
David Janszen just emailed me again and asked that I post some revised notes with more WARNINGS than in his prior message. He also included a pdf with a reprint of the rebuilding procedure from a past magazine article (email if you want a copy). H...
KLH Model Nine, how do I depot the wax cans?
Thanks 4est, I was trying to figure out how may of the selenium rectifiers were in the supply (so I could order an appropiate number of diodes, they are only 15 cents each so I could order a bunch of them but maybe there are a lot of the selenium ...
KLH Model Nine, how do I depot the wax cans?
Thanks Gmuffley, I had contacted David Janszen again and he gave some additional instrutions (he said to drill a small hole in the bottom of the can and put it in the oven with a pan underneath, he was guessing 200 deg F), with as you say the conn...
Reel to Reel
Thanks Sam, I'm going to look for another 2 track deck so I can dub the old 2-track tapes. Would like a technics rs1500 (had one once), just have to be patient.
Reel to Reel
I had passed on an otari mx5050 bii on craigslist (non-working for $60, after talking with the owner it sounded like he knew how to work the deck and it didn't work). So today decided to call again and buy the deck (thinking maybe I could fix it) ...
Reel to Reel
It turns out a good number of the tapes in the collection I bought are 2-track, so will have to upgrade the deck (after looking them over more carefully they are mostly 2 track from the 1950's). Should have waited to get a deck with 2 and 4 track ...
Reel to Reel
This week a friend sold me about 200 pre recorded tapes that look like they are from the 50's and 60's, mostly classical (most of them appear to be 7-1/2 ips 4 track, but meaning 2 tracks in 2 directions). They are good labels, everest, rca, mercu...
VPI Classic Platter
Does anyone know the weight of the aluminum platter? I had searched out and purchased an aries 1 with original heavy platter which I think is 20 lbs (and I may be wrong but I think the super platter is 25 lbs? or is it 30)
Best way to spend $2k on a used Turntable & Arm?
While a little over your budget audioclassics.com has a VPI Aries 1 with JMW 10 arm for $2300 (I had contacted one of the sales reps -Rick and he said he would do it for $2300 shipped). I was considering that table but bought an Aries 1 on audigon...
Wright Sound AG Phono Preamp questions
Someone suggested that it is probably a prototype, the serial number is 2002 and the mfg date is 5/02. Really a nice preamp,
Wright Sound AG Phono Preamp questions
Thanks for the info, it is not really a problem and only noticeable at high volumes and then barely. Rob, that is interesting that there is this variation in tube complement (mine uses two ecc99's as the input pair and yours with a single ecc99 fo...
recommendations for TT + arm + cart, around $3.5k
I bought a VPI aries 1 with sds speed control jmw 10 arm, upgraded motor and original platter for $2500. The Kuzma Stabi S was and still is a temptation. While I would have a hard time buying a "new" audio product the vpi classic which I haven't h...
