Zyx Universe. O.24 mv vs .48 mv with low eff spkrs 05-21-14: Charles1dadI believe the move to Daedalus is the right direction and these speakers also have a very good reputation for sound quality.Well, as a very happy Ulysses owner I'll certainly second that. BTW, Tom, they are spec'd at 98 db/1 w...
Zyx Universe. O.24 mv vs .48 mv with low eff spkrs 05-21-14: DougdeaconSo they're actually just 81db efficient when stated with industry standard specs? Ouch.Doug, "industry standard" is probably ambiguous in this context these days, as specifying speaker SPLs relative to an input of 2.83 volts ra...
Zyx Universe. O.24 mv vs .48 mv with low eff spkrs Do you ever want to crank the volume beyond the highest setting you have available?getting close to wanting to, it is usually just enough for my louder listening, but I have to use a hi watt amp (Van Alstine 600r)As a point of information, the 84 ...
Is a louder IC cable a better cable? Mofi is of course correct. When you change between RCA and XLR you are not only changing the cable, you are changing between different interface circuit designs in both of the components that are being connected, and you are changing between kinds...
Need to consider a new pair of ICs Just curious, but what leads you to believe that the issue is being caused by lack of synergy between that cable and the DAC, rather than by the DAC itself? Or by lack of synergy between the DAC and something else in the system (such as the digita...
Phono cartridge grading What do the three numbers represent??? Don, it appears that the first number is the sum of the scores in his three "technical categories"; the second number is the sum of the scores in his seven "sonic categories"; and the third number is the over...
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors 05-18-14: BjbcabSorry but I have to laugh at some of you guys. Looks to me like the resistor plays a multifaceted role for the Wilson speaker. Read the last sentence in my post ["Additionally, these resistors can be used to tailor the output of th...
What are your TWO favorite Symphonic Recordings? From the Wikipedia writeup on Kathleen Ferrier:The opera critic Rupert Christiansen, writing as the 50th anniversary of Ferrier's death approached, maintained that "no singer in this country [the UK] has ever been more deeply loved, as much for th...
What direction should Hi Fi tune fuse be installed Now if I could just get the guard to return my posters to my cell...They probably saw "The Shawshank Redemption.":-)Best regards,-- Al
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors I have no dog in this, um, debate, but as an experienced electronic designer (not for audio), I agree completely with all of Peter's comments just above.Regards,-- Al
What direction should Hi Fi tune fuse be installed Wolfie, I usually don't point out typos or spelling errors, but in this case I suspect that for your post to convey what you intended "disperate" should be "disparate." Chances are "disperate" would be taken by many to be a misspelling of "despera...
Channel Balance on Dynavector XV1-S 05-17-14: MoryogaSince the signal issue changes evenly when I change the tonearm wires on the cart pins from L to R, I think that this rules out the Foz and the test LP as variables. Moryoga, note in the thread I linked to earlier that the Foz was...
What are these vintage speakers? Found this video which shows the AS-101 in detail:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCX9Ng0sfY8Regards,-- Al
What are these vintage speakers? Based on a quick Google Images search, they appear to be the Heathkit AS-101, although photos of that model generally show them without legs. The AS-101 apparently used the same Altec drivers that were used in Altec's Valencia model.Regards,-- Al
Channel Balance on Dynavector XV1-S This thread may be relevant. The link opens at the post which describes the conclusion in that particular situation.Regards,-- Al |
