Help for Cello Audio Pallete malfunction
Good suggestion by Mofi. Also, I believe the Palette was mostly designed by Dick Burwen, who apparently can be contacted through his website here.Good luck. Regards,-- Al
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system
No, you definitely don't want to wire them backwards. That will LOWER the impedance seen by the amp, by 2x or 3x or 4x depending on the connections. So the 1.6 ohm combination of the four drivers would be seen by the amp as well under an ohm. See ...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Psag and Mapman, thanks very much. Obviously I don't have to finalize any decisions just now, and we'll see how things develop in the coming weeks. But while I certainly value the experience-based inputs from Drewan and Psag, and while it's certai...
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system
As I interpret the information provided at zeroimpedance.com, if the Zero is being used to increase the load impedance seen by the amplifier (as opposed to decreasing it) there is one and only one pair of output wires on the Zero that can be conne...
Adding a resistor in a parallel wiring system
Doing that won't affect the damping factor of the other three drivers. But perhaps you don't even have to add the resistor. Three nominally 8 ohm drivers in parallel with a nominally 4 ohm driver results in a nominal overall impedance of about 1.6...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Andrew (Drewan), thanks very much for providing the info in your system description thread. As I indicated there, it provides a good quantitative perspective for DEQX newbies such as myself on what is possible in the speaker calibration process.Ma...
amp or preamp to extend upper end
06-09-15: EvolvingRleff I did try almargs suggestion and it actually helped. Although I only had to go up by about 1/2 db.Good! For the record, though, my suggestion essentially just seconded a suggestion that was made earlier in the thread by ZD5...
Atmas-phere MP-3 MKIII --- opinions?
Good point by Brf. If you don't want to purchase a separate phono stage at this point, though, keep in mind that you can use the built-in phono stage of the M6Pre in conjunction with the SLP-05. You would do that by connecting the tape output of t...
Is DEQX a game changer?
Caution: Very long post :-)Well, it seems that my forward progress has taken a step backward, although the step backward has resulted in discoveries that will hopefully be beneficial in the end, to me and to others who may read this. After evaluati...
Ken Bernacky Stereo Surgeons
Roxy, and also Paraneeer (I think, based on the last sentence of your comment), "Geno" refers to Geno Auriemma, the long-time and legendary coach of the University of Connecticut women's basketball team, who has led that team to 10 national champi...
amp or preamp to extend upper end
06-02-15: Zd542Try turning the high frequency contour adjustment on your 3's up 1db.+1 (meaning that I agree with ZD's suggestion, as opposed to suggesting that another db be added to the 1 db he suggested :-)). I took a look at John Atkinson's re...
Help - new house - new setup?
06-04-15: Onhwy61Almarg makes a point about reflected sound possibly not being a problem, but I think a controlled directivity loudspeaker would lessen the problem even further. To be sure it's clear, my point about reflected sound possibly not bei...
Help - new house - new setup?
MusicalAl, thanks for the additional info.Based on info provided in the 8802 manual, especially on pages 192, 142, and 335, and on the specs for the JC1, it appears that with the "channel level adjust" settings of the 8802 at their default value o...
Audio out to RCA input on new Sony TV's?
There won't be an impedance issue using the headphone mini-jack output, as headphone outputs have to have low output impedance or they wouldn't be able to drive most headphones with reasonable results. So using an adapter or adapter cable seems wel...
