Speakers for Rock
PSB Stratus GOLDi's: You'll love them. Stereophile Class B recommended component. Approximately $1,800.00 US$/pr. Accurate, tonally neutral, impressive clarity and detail, stable stereo image, awesome bass extension and power handling! Look no fur...
How to audition speakers?
Always pay attention to the EQUIPMENT (including and especially IC's (interconnects, PC's (power cords) and speaker wire. Also take note of the speakers positioning in the room (in relation to room boundaries). For a listening room NOT to have any...
Speaker break in?
Absolutely! 250-500 hours playing time should do it for virtually any higher-end speaker.peter jasz.
Amp advice for Thiel cs7
Tom Munro's rec's are excellent. What IC/power cables are you using? You should be able to extract quite a bit from the CA-300.peter jasz
Budget speaker wire B&W 803 from Classe CA101
Consider a single run of XLO Pro-600 speaker wire (approx. US$6/ft. If your 803's are bi-wireable get a second run of XLO Pro-600 (at a later date to save money now) or the Pro-1200 US$$12/ft (internal bi-wire).Kimber Kable 4TC or 8TC (8TC twice t...
Considering the Rule of Diminishing Returns.......
Check out the PSB Stratus Goldi speakers (approx $2,500 US$). They are a three-way tower featuring 10", 6" and 1" drive units. These speakers are accurate, musical and of very high power handling. Bass extension is impressive, staging and realism ...
Best or most profound sleeper product
In the Interconnect/speaker wire department XLO's Pro-125/1-M IC (Single-ended only) @ about $80.00 US$ is very, very good (for the price), as is XLO's Pro-600 spkr wire, (about $6/ft.)peter jasz
Rogue preamp owners - inverted polarity, do you???
Either way is fine (polarity wise). I would follow Rogue's recommendation. Polarity inversion is dismissed by as many as it is believed. Some preamps offer the provision to change polarity at the remote. Expirementing with this reveals very little...
Richard Gray 1200S, Hydra or ????
If you haven't already, consider top-notch PC's first and then consider AC line conditioning/regeneration. Also, on your new AC lines; Are they connected to the same phase at the electrical box? They should be. New wiring and receptacles also take...
Big Difference With New Source?
Absolutely! the Rega Planet/2000 (or for a few more bucks) consider the Classe CDP.3 are much better than the NAD. Your system is quite good. A better CD player (the one's listed)excell in layering, dimensionality and realism. There is a coherency...
Speaker cables for Revel F30's with Bryston 9b st?
Kimber 4TC/8TC or XLO Pro-1200 speaker wire should do very nicely in that price point.peter jasz
PS Audio 300 vs Tice powerblock II
The PS Audio P-300 is a fantastic device for front-end components. However, connecting both digital and analog equipment into the P-300 (when powered up simultaneously) appears to result in an edge/slight brightness in sound. I can only imagine th...
Electrostatic speaker cables...
Hello Dennis. Try the Kimber Bi-Focal"X" (9ga), or "XL" (5.5ga). This speaker wire is neutral, transparent with excellent focus and enveloping sound-staging (depth, width and height). This series posesses the rare quality of being neutral, quick a...
High Sensitvity = good transient response ?
Could you be referring to dynamic range as opposed to transient response? If that's the case, higher sensitivity speakers generally appear to sound more dynamic --or have greater dynamic range/swing than lower senstivity models.
Review: Kimber Select KS-1030 Interconnect
Without a doubt a superb IC. Transparent, detailed, delicate and nuanced, stage-champ, awesome focus, tonality, top-to-bottom coherency and extension and that illusive and remarkable quality of resolving instrument and vocal tones with a natural c...
