dCS Rossini vs. Berkeley Reference dac 2 FWIW - Gyphon is now available in the USA -- Suncoast Audio is the only dealer/distributor as of now (late July 2017).I haven't heard the Berkeley Ref2, but have a Rossini and a Debussy. I sat and listened to the Vivaldi partial stack (no transpor...
Wyred4Sound Dac-2 vs Preamp and separate DAC 50-55 too much gain?? I guess I need to play with the impedance taps on my amps as I have the opposite problem. I have some high Rez stuff that I just can't seem to get enough gain from the DAC2.
Wyred4Sound Dac-2 vs Preamp and separate DAC I thought I'd follow-up on this thread as I purchased a McIntosh C48 preamp (that also has a supposedly decent DAC) and have run my Wyred4Sound DAC2 through it. I can say from a preamp perspective, if you listen to music at low volume you are bett...
McIntosh C48 and C50 owners-how good is the DAC? I have owned a c48 for about 6 weeks now. I'm a bit frustrated with the DAC performance. Its very harsh when compared to my wyred4sound DAC2. Chuck Hinton at mcintosh said the soon to be released drivers for the usb will change how it sounds. Im s...
Any McIntosh C48 owners out there? I have owned a c48 for about 6 weeks now. I'm a bit frustrated with the DAC performance. Its very harsh when compared to my wyred4sound DAC2. Chuck Hinton at mcintosh said the soon to be released drivers for the usb will change how it sounds. Im s...
Wyred4Sound Dac-2 vs Preamp and separate DAC This is from Jriver's site about Kernel Streaming: Kernel Streaming is a hardware direct way to speak directly to a WDM audio driver. Jriver Media Center 15.0.6 (and later) adds support for Kernel Streaming output. Kernel Streaming is a hardware d...
Wyred4Sound Dac-2 vs Preamp and separate DAC Jriver's implementation of kernel streaming bypasses the os's sound mixer alltogether. Its a relatively new feature that's come out in the last few months. Id say its better than anything else in windows. But i also agree with you that Linux rules...
Wyred4Sound Dac-2 vs Preamp and separate DAC @ranperry: you really should try the USB async directly into the dac2. Youre missing out on the best sounding part of the unit (IMHO). I tried exacty what you have and found the m audio spdif nowhere near as good sounding as sending the usb direct...
Nicest DAC with Preamp around $2500 new Wyred4sound dac2 for me. The usb async sounds great at any sample rate. Plus its flexible enough to use in a theater bypass system.
Hard drive file management? I use two programs you may want to look into. 1. For ripping/converting I use dbpoweramp CDripper (it comes with the dbpoweramp suite) does the same quality work as EAC and also has accuraterip and can do lookups to ensure you get an accurate rip....
DAC or Upgrade To MX150 From D2V?? I just wanted to update the group as I got my Wyred4Sound DAC2 last week and have been listening to it for some time now. I have to say it blows the D2V out of the water -- through and through. Transitions are incredible, clarity, the low-end is b...
DAC or Upgrade To MX150 From D2V?? @Javsystems - Isn't SPDIF a cheaper implementation of AES3 to begin with? I don't think the two are even the same.I tried the coax instead of the optical. I can detect a slight improvement, but nothing that is comparable to my old unit. I'm buying...
DAC or Upgrade To MX150 From D2V?? Thanks for everyone's feedback. I'm very interested in the Wyred4sound DAC2 based on all I read...sounds like a good fit especially since 99% of the 2 channel music listening I do is via the Sonos. Any additional thoughts/gotchas? I can't seem to ...
DAC or Upgrade To MX150 From D2V?? I'm using the SPDIF (optical) from the Sonos to the Anthem. For 2 channel, I've set the "music" setting so the Anthem does as little processing as possible to the original signal (no xover, etc). I've setup my ARC (Anthem's Room Correction) target...
Mcintosh MX136/MC205 vs Anthem D2v/A2 I have the D2V with MC303's and Nautilus 802's. I've tried other amps but they sound best with the Mcintosh in my opinion. Jury is out for me on the Anthem. For 5.1 it's pretty amazing. I don't care for its sound in 2.0 mode on digital sources. |
