McCormack Audio/Conrad Johnson service is great
Adreed about CJ: lightning fast e-mail responses, great follow-up, utmost care about their products, regardless if purchased new or pre-owned
I'm beginning to wonder...
A better question is how many Audiogoners who live in America consider English to be their 1st language. For me it is third. So sorry for my occasional misspellings and awkward grammar!
Does anyone or does everyone pay retail price?
Paid retail only once @ a local BM store, anticipating and having an understanding (which wasn't mutual, it appears) that the dealer would provide an adequate after-sale service...you know, loaner when the damn thing broke, promptly getting acceso...
so what do you do when listening?
I meditate and do yoga. Immersing yourself in the sound, concentrating your racing turbulent mind on the pure nature of sound is meditation in itself
Small sub
Ive owned a Totem Thunder three times in the last 5-6 years: highly recommended!
Audiophiles get NO respect
Shadorne: this is truly great! (damn, I gotto cancel my GQ/Esquire/Men's Vogue subscriptions)
Any cables that give more bass
I am not suggesting anything at all, just sharing personal experience. Room acoustics is crucial, everyone understands that. Sub or no sub, that's a different story. Been there, and sub integration is a real chalenge that only very few systems can...

Any cables that give more bass
Staying within the realm of cable discussion, I've had a great success with Virtual Dynamics power cables...thick as a fire hose, definitely not for the faint of heart, yet the bass quality improvement was so significant that I replaced all of my ...
Looking for a CDP from a company that'll be around
I think that the idea of treating CDP's as disposable devices with a rather limited life span is of merit. Before I settled on my Musical Fidelity, I did what some of us do: purchased 3 units to compare, with my CD-308 being the least expensive (@...

"Lexicon RT-20..."Sorry, they're getting out of the player-making business...parts availabilty, turn around time etc etc.Not so sure
Audio Aero Prima - not responding
If it ended up costing $800, I'd dump this POS in the river, out of principle...See, this player itself-when used-is worth around $1K, or so
Looking for a CDP from a company that'll be around
Thanks to all for the input! Look, I am past the stage of sonic experimentation: selling, trading, buying, swapping...and finally, I am positive, I've settled down to a system I've had now for a couple years. Pragmatic stuff- like value, service, ...
Looking for a CDP from a company that'll be around
True, no one could tell with dead certainty, if a company would be around in 5-6 years: that's why it's a guesstimate. Yet one hopes there are definite indicators pointing out to their business model being a projected success or bound for failure....
Looking for a CDP from a company that'll be around
Nah...MF isn't gone...it's just servicing them (especially, older models) is extremely problematic; I also happen to be in the camp of those who believe they don't make them like they used to. So, it's time to move on...
