Beethoven Ninth Symphony
i second Newbee's Bernstein / VPO recommendation.there's an excellent Bernstein Beethoven cycle on SHM-CD. it's not cheap but the sonics are great & the performance IMO is as good as it gets (even better than the Vanska, Toscanini, Furtwrangle...
Horning Eufrodites
Hi Tim, i've not had the chance to hear the Gaku-On, but was told they're more powerful but a little less linear than the Ongaku (possibly because the parallel 211 output tubes results in a slightly more complicated circuit).between Ongaku & K...

they work well in large rooms (i'd generally characterize them as sounding larger than they look). they're pretty "full" sounding, so try not to place them too close to the front walls (might cause bass overload), then again, each room is differen...

hi Tim, what specifically would you like to know abt them?
Wilson Benesch Torus subbass system.
Sorry to revive an old thread.I'm currently home demoing a Wilson benesch Torus sub. Was wondering if anyone could advise what differences there might be between using one & two Torus subs?
Weiss Medea-MAC Pro 16/44 - 24/192 Ultimate Conn
you could use a "Lynx AES16 sound card" & a "D-sub to XLR cable" to connect your Mac Pro to the Medea.
What is the Best Integrated tube amp you heard
Kondo Ongaku (with NOS tubes).
Weiss Minerva Dac
hi Luvwine, i'm equally confused abt this... maybe someone could shed some light on this?!
Weiss Minerva Dac
btw, is anyone currently using the Lynx AES-16 24/192 digital I/O? what kind of cables/connectors does this btw the I/O & the DAC?

hi Schwinnindia, i agree with yr 3 pts & would like to add another 2:D - media software needs to be compatible with high def audio files;& most important of all...E - there needs to be more titles/albums properly remastered in high def aud...

exactly. except for the Weiss Minerva, most of these so called "true 24/176 or 192 DACs" don't utilize digital connectors that are even capable of this high native sample rate (& none of these DACs mentioned hv dual AES/EBU, SPDIF, Toslink inp...

also, isn't it redundant to talk abt 48kHz, 96kHz, or 192kHz sample rates when these are typically associated with digital audio tapes (as opposed to audio CDs which typically utilize 44kHz, 88kHz,or 176kHz sample rates)??
Weiss Minerva Dac
this is all a bit confusing...aren't AES/EBU, SPDIF Coax, & Toslink cables limited to 24bit 96kHz bandwidth, & USB 2.0 cables limited to 24bit 48kHz bandwidth?how does one feed raw 24bit 176kHz (&/or 196kHz) data into these DACs with j...
Weiss Minerva Dac
hi Drubin, could you describe the associated equip in both systems?
Weiss Minerva Dac
i've heard the Minerva. as much as i wanted to like it, i found it to sound rather artificial (it had a "copy & paste" type of presentation / very little cohesion btw the performers). the Weiss Medea DAC i heard immediately after that was MUCH...
