Pass Labs Xono - Any users out there? I just got one (similar deal as Donem)to replace my Linn Linto. Nothing wrong with the Linto, but it wa sa good opportunity to get a more future-proof phono pre at a great price. Still very much in the burn-in stage, but it is quiter than the Lint...
How To Best Deal With Voltage Surges? Thanks guys. Yers, the fuses are expensive anyhwere..and not easy to find either. I bought a box of ten just in case. I've done a number of searches on the forums here and at Audioasylum, an do plan to call CJ tomorrow. In XS configuration, the po...
Miles Davis Prestige Box Set-How God Is It? I had a lot of problems with mis tracking on my set. ...to the point I returned it to Music Direct and bought the DCC gold CD's instead. The block cords on th piano sounded horrible on my LP12 rig. No other LP in my pretty large collection did thi...
LP 12 Owners-If you were going to buy a new TT ... Patrick - VTA on the Ekos can only be adjusted the hard way --- by lowering or raising the entire arm. Not the most reproducibel approach for fine tuning compared to other arms out there. The speed control bit is related to the belt position on th...
MM and Linn Linto? Very true. The wire only drops the gain, but leaves impedance unchanged. I suppose it would be good for a high output MC, but indeed won't sound so hot w/ most MM's. I own the Arkiv, and it is a wonderfuls combo with the Linto. However...I am abou...
Anyone know anything about Electro Harmonix 6922? Nowhere near as good as the NOS stuff, I'm afraid. I compared these in my BAT vs pretty reasonable NOS tubes (Amperex Holland Bugle Boy) and rarer stuff (AMperex 7308 PQ), and it really was no contest. Don't know your application or how many you n...
MM and Linn Linto? Noy exaclty true. The Linto was designed an doptimized for the Arkiv. For a high output MM, you can cut a wire inside the chassis to reduce the gain. Not sure how reversible this would be, though
VPI cleaner clear tubes cracking What fluid are you using? I've never had any problems w/ my 3 year old machine. I use Disc Doctor and RR Labs fluids
Anyone heard outstanding sub/sat combinations? SF Guarneri Homage and a pair of REL Strata subs. Good on their own, better with something like a Tact to ensure seamless integration
How do I adjust the speed on my Linn Sondek LP 12? Assuming the motor an dpower supply are OK, the speed CAN be adjusted, but it is a pain in the keister to do. The only way to do it is by shifting the tilt angle on the motor pulley. Thiss is accomplished by loosening/tightening the two adjustment...
Bybee's filters I have not installed Bybees internally on any of my gear, but I use the external Bybee filters just about everywhere. I have a pair on my tonearm cable right before it goes into the phono preamp, apair on the phono preamp IC's right before the Tac...
Which phono section: Linn Linto or Bryston 1.5 ? The Linto is great with Linn's Arkiv, for which it was desigmed. That's how I use it. and have no complaints. However, it offers ZERO flexibility. You cannot change the gain, the laoding, etc. So....for use with anything other than the Arkiv you m...
best upgrade for 'standard' LP12 Forget the Trampolin. I got rid of mine, removed the bottom plate, and balanced the whole thing on Aurios MIB's -A pain to do, but well worth the time. The Lingo (or the Naim Armageddon) make a BIG difference. I thought I saw a used Lingo on Audio...
2000$ - 7y old speakers - Better speakers today ? Well,,,7 years ago Audiogon probably was not around. Spending $ 2000 on used (or should I say "pre-owned") speakers is more than likely to get you far more bang for the buck. $ 2 K will buy some pretty nice gear on this site!
S-F users: any successful sub matings out there? I own a pair of Guarneri Homage. Depending on what type of music you listen to and how large you room is, you might not need a sub. They go surprisingly low in-room on their own (usable output down to 40 Hz or so). However, adding a sub makes a bi... |
