Dogs who love music
For what it is worth, I agree with the Manie Coon cat on the Ramones. The only animal we have is a guinea pig, belongs to my 15 year old son. Mr. Hobbs (the guinea) sits as peaceful as a stone, until my son cranks up his tube amp and Fender Strat....
The Best Movie sound Tracks
I really love "Emerald Forest," and is one of the few not already listed. I strongly agree with the posters who mentioned both "Lift to the Scaffold," with Miles Davis, and "The Mission." Off from the usual sound track genre, but totally mesmerizi...

Lead shots for speaker stand.
Lotuss4. Copper is not a bad material, but in the size and shape of pennies, they won't do much in the way of packing together, not to mention the difficulty in getting them into the confined spaces allowed for filling (on most stands). I admit it...
Best and Worst Product Names
I always liked it when Berning Amps and Fried speakers were in the same hallway at CES. Just saying the names in that order sounds like a catastrophe. Wonder if the combo was done in by MIT Terminator?Passing the David Manley room at CES always en...

An alternative damping material I would like to mention is Silica sand. The variety I am using is for sand blasting and is distributed by Clemtex of Houston, TX. The damping it provides is greater than playground sand or (clay) kitty litter, and h...
Who pays for busted stuff?
Thanks Kelly, as always you are the clear answer for tough legal questions.
New Listener Mag Tweak Issue
I heard the Mpingo wood discs at the CES in the Shun Mook room. Removing and replacing them while I stood there was the only way I could convince myself that I was not imagining things. I can say that in that room the effect was positive. I cannot...
I normally don't ask for help, but.....
My sincere thanks to all of you on behalf of Gary and his family. I am aware of the dissimilar beliefs of people all around the world, and the Audiogon community is bound to represents a variety of these.Regardless of your belief system, your posi...
Party At Albertporter s
Dekay, "The Wall" was by Pink Floyd. So, who could be asleep between the sofa and Roger Waters? Could it be the hairy beast from the cover of "Amused to Death"? If so, will someone please remove the bonds from Carl and David 99 before he sees them...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
I bought the A1 Soundlabs in 1989. If I had to replace my (same size) U-1 Soundlabs today, it would be with an identical pair. It is the only component in my system that I never consider changing.
Who R U?
Lornecherry, that post deserves at least an OS 9 or maybe even an OS X.
Washington Post Article
Metaphysics. No, she will not be invited to my party. The biases of this reporter must be revealed, so in an effort to shine the brilliant white light of truth on this subject, I will reveal here FOR THE FIRST TIME, the excesses of this Washington...

Beam tetrode aboard Capt Kirk! Damn it Kitch, I'm an audiophile not an engineer, but I'll try to coax a few more electrons from the Telefunkens before the Klingons are removed from Uranus.
Speaker connected to amp and surround?
Use a cable from the Sony surround amp ( front channel out ) to feed the Cary amp, that way only the Cary will have speaker cables run to your ProAc's. It should be the better sounding of the two amps anyway. If your surround processor is outside o...
