HIGH SPL or ARTERY PLAQUE CLEANER
I was JBL's tech rep (many years ago), and yes this system is SCARY. I actually believe the claimed 126 DB may be a bit low for those components if I remember my tech sheets correctly.Hope you're young and stop occasionally to give your ears a rest.
An observation about "Modern" classical music.
I've been reading this thread for some time without commenting, until I saw this by Shubertmaniac:My moniker says I love Schubert, and I do! But I would rank some of the moderns as my favorites too, but after Schubert, Beethoven and Brahms, I woul...

Queens of the Stone Age, "First it Giveth" Rocks!
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
Yea, but Ludwig was using an old Garrard player in 1951 and you kept evolving until you reached the air bearing, linear track status for playback of your analog. As memory serves, Ludwig was gone, long before (long gone?) the first Sony CD player e...
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
Guidocorona, I looked here:Epistemological stereoI see his opinions about life, religion and such, but cannot find a listing of his stereo system. Do you really believe this guy is a better expert on sound than Mike Lavigne? He died in 1951, so I ...
Conrad Johnson ACT2 against Audio Research Ref 3
Odd that the VTL 7.5 even qualifies as a tube preamp. It is all solid state except for two 12 AX7's.Wonder why they left out the Aesthetix Callisto? Maybe because it has 22 tubes?
Do speakers have to "warm-up" too?
Sure, speaker probably do have a warm up time. Many contain capacitors, resistors and inductors that change as signal passes through them. My Sound-Labs were very slow to warm up in spite the amount of time the electronics had been on. Sound-Labs ...
Bob Crump passes away over holiday.
What a great post Rackon. Thanks for sharing that side of Bob Crump.I also appreciate the words of Fred Crowder, a long time friend who spent a long time with me on the phone yesterday morning discussing this. I was not nearly as close to Bob as F...
Why do new cables needs to be "broken" ???
Robert, have you tried the FryKleaner and Audiodharma both? If so, are these the best ones around and is one superior to the other?I have been considering buying a cable burner but have not tested any of them.
Bob Crump passes away over holiday.
Bless his heart and soul, a guy I have known for many, many years. Sad that we loose another member of the audio community.
Dynavector 10 X 5 Or Other MC In Same Price Range?
I just auditioned the Galibier Stelvio turntable (double arm config) with new brass insert platter and fitted with Schroeder Reference and Micro Seiki 505 tonearms. This at a audio members home, in a system I'm familiar with. The Schroeder had a ZY...
Sovtek 6550 - Can they really be THIS bad???
Cool, further explanation of why you like and recommend them. We choose the same tube :^).The name change is very confusing, probably only helpful to the new trade mark holder who is selling off the reputation of the previous factorys work.As for ...
Sovtek 6550 - Can they really be THIS bad???
I feel I should add this for those that don't already know. The Svetlana 6550, EL34 (etc) of three years ago is the SED Wing C of today. Those who sing the praises of Svetlana bought some time ago are saying they like the (present) SED Wing C. Same ...
Sovtek 6550 - Can they really be THIS bad???
I recently bought a pair of used VTL 750's from an authorized dealer who had completely re tubed these amps with matched Sovtek 6550's. These particular tubes were TRADE MARKED as "Svetlana" which are the same tubes as Sovtek / Electro Harmonix fo...
