Anyone heard Salk Veracity HT3 speakers?
I can't add anything, in fact I did not know about these until you posted this thread. I must say, if the frequency response specifications on their web site is accurate that is an impressive pair of speakers. As always, the proof is in auditionin...
First song to "Blow You Away"...
Led Zeppelin doing "Gallows Pole."Not necessarily my favorite song though. I was photographing the group in concert (one of tens of dozens I've covered) and was allowed on stage just as this song was beginning. Several stacks of amps and speakers ...
I want to re-introduce this subject.
I appear to be the only respondent to this thread that's LP set up plays louder than CD. When my CD player is set for 15 out of 46 available clicks of volume, it is about equal to my LP rig at 4 clicks. My cartridge is only .2 MV but the phono stag...
How to thwart cats
I know him!I visited that guy and he invited me to watch a movie with him. It was Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds." Absolutely the most realistic rendition of the movie I have ever experienced.Imagine that Crow replaced with a Parrot sitting on the ...
Classe Omega Omicron monos or Pass Labs X600???
OK, I'll step up with an opinion and get the first round of flames. I don't think there is any contest between these two, I much prefer the Omega Omicron. My response assumes your talking about This one.I actually considered the bigger version of t...
Consumer Electronic Show ?
Gosh, I sure hope someone doesn't go to Kinko's or Office Max and purchase "blank," Avery business cards and print them up as "A+ Audio" or something and be able to get into high end CES exhibits. That would be terrible! Imagine audiophiles that lo...
Who Do You Credit For Getting You Into This Hobby?
Thanks Mary, now you have to come listen with the gang again some Tuesday night.
Vandersteen speakers and biwiring
I've owned two pair of Vandersteen speakers and bi-wiring does provide a substantial increase in performance. Of course it depends on many factors including wire quality and amp design. As for:using a true biwire (not where the cables are sheathed ...
What happened to Linear Tracking Turntables
GREAT link Outlier! Thanks for adding that, I did not know about that arm, it looks excellent.
What happened to Linear Tracking Turntables
My response was--if they were so good, why do so few companies offer them? Still very much around, but primarily in the high end model turntables. Good examples include Walker, Kuzma Airline, Rockport, Air Tangent, Clear Audio, and Eminent Technol...
brass outlet covers...anyone try them? Sound good
Caig pro gold works well and not expensive, I use it on interconnects, speaker terminals and even tube pins. I've had good luck with the Walker silver paste, but use it very sparingly. I find it works well on fuse holders where additional contact ...
brass outlet covers...anyone try them? Sound good
How about cleaning connections as I suggested? Can't hear that either?
brass outlet covers...anyone try them? Sound good
Regardless of the amount of area of the cover, it constitutes a direct vibration pathway to the electrical connection between the male and female AC circuit. In fact, the AC connection would be better if it were a crimped "gas tight" fit or solder...
brass outlet covers...anyone try them? Sound good
Audiofell, you're not forced to spend the .69 cents, I would not worry about it if it offends you. I still think it's possible to hear the drum effect of an outlet cover and in any case, it's a harmless experiment that forces the user to pay atten...
brass outlet covers...anyone try them? Sound good
I don't doubt there are differences in sound with various materials covering the outlet. The cover plate can be a drum head for vibration, transmitting into the AC connection. So, depending on how close your speakers are, room construction, type o...
