Selling to someone in another country Macrojack,Regarding: I've had a couple of offers from Asia where all goes well with the arrangements until time to pay ....... then the downward negotiation begins. I, for one, would rather not bother.I've had similar experiences, what is it with ...
Importance of headshell and tonearm alignment I agree with Pcosta, except I would use another headshell with longer screw slots to avoid disposing of your cartridge. I modified a Linn tonearm by elongating the headshell screw slots and it worked perfectly. Fortunately the SME has a detachable...
Alison Kraus : So long so wrong ; Vinyl The album garnered much praise from Stereophile, Absolute Sound and Hi Fi+. Of course that doesn't automatically make it good, but this double LP sounds excellent on my system. Admittedly It is a bit "cooler" tonally than "Forget about It" by Alli...

Long distance from amp to speakers Any possibility of hiding the amps behind the Vandersteens? If yes, you can leave the preamp where it is, use relatively inexpensive long interconnect cables and very short speaker wires. The interconnect cable is less intrusive, less visible and ...
Pwr. conditioner necessary w/dedicated AC lines? The Thor you mention sounds interesting. The problems you previously had, loss of dynamics and micro detail is exactly my complaint with all power conditioners. Perhaps the Thor is a better mousetrap, an improved version of Quiet Lines.
Pwr. conditioner necessary w/dedicated AC lines? Denf, regarding:I would like to reactivate this thread now that a little time has passed to perhaps get some new feedback. I am still using my P300, but ONLY for my BAT VK3i preamp (I am still running my CD player "direct" to the wall, which again...
Buzz/hum caused by new a electric lines Nsgarch,Plug the amps right into the wall. I won't go into my diatribe about conditioners/filters here, but I think they are more a liability than an asset, if you have ded. circuits anyway.I agree completely.
Buzz/hum caused by new a electric lines Ngjockey asks the exact question I would ask. It's possible your electrician delivered two phases to your system and you now have a ground loop. If you can, plug everything into one outlet and see if the problem is resolved. If your power draw is ...
Brinkman Balance Comparisons This thread proves to me that we audiophiles operating in the analog domain have it made. Discussions between us centering on differences between the best turntables, arms and cartridges in the world and everyone seems to favor (or at least be exc...
What is the voltage at your receptacle? The two legs at my breaker box read 119.8 volts and 121.7 volts. I have all my stereo dedicated runs connected to the 121.7 phase and noisy appliances such as refrigerator, TV, and bathroom outlet used for hair drier are all on the 119.8 V side. |
