Who is Michael Fremers' Raul , it's good to see you slugging it out with some of these folks. Your comments and manner are most appreciated by me. I agree---"Enjoy the music". :)
What are the treasures in your vinyl library? MoFi half-speed masters : Aqualung , Cosmo's Factory , Led Zeppelin II. + Dark Side Of The Moon , Madman Across The Water , White Album (Capitol), We're An American Band , The Song Remains The Same , Led Zeppelin IV (untitled) Elvis' #1 hits , mono.
Zu Druid questions +++Broccoli gives me gas.+++ I'm having that reaction to all the chatter about "measurements". Lab measurements are so very useful-if everyone who bought the speakers set them up in an anechoic chamber with no furniture. I wouldn't find music near...
Most PRACTICAL, yet good sounding REEL to REEL ??? Johnnyb53 , try the Nak ZX9. It was essentially a Dragon with manual head adjustments for bias and azimuth. Astounding cassette deck. I fed mine CR tape and used a Tandberg amp/pre and a Yamaha PX-2. Got very nice results , IMO. :)
Most PRACTICAL, yet good sounding REEL to REEL ??? Tandberg. If you'd rather collect/make cassettes , Nakamichi.

Attn Vinyl lovers - what CD Player do you use? Marantz SA8260 SACD/CD player.

Best Tube Amp under 10K? Manley makes some decent amps , and don't underestimate McIntosh. The name may carry a bit of "old school" stigma , but Mac has been doing high-end tube amps for a very long time-50 years of experience and sales success isn't a fluke.
Two amps, one pure class A, other A/B My little Marantz gets just as loud in Class A mode (25 watts) as it does in A/B mode (95 watts) , even though examples have been measured at 105 watts in A/B. Also sounds a heck of a lot better in Class A. Kid Rock sounds better (?) in A/B , Mile...
Phono Stage - The Bellari is supposed to be very good , and only $250
best preamp ever - cost is no object Give Halcro a listen.
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh? Although I can't afford any Mac gear I've demoed a bunch at my local "dream store". Also known a few people who own and swear by the stuff. It seems that ever increasing "detail" in audio gear has tended towards a brighter sound. While all that de... |
